Coast Guard City, USA

Well, guess what? The Brett and Tieka adventure continues. We weren't even considering the possibility, but we are somehow moving to Grand Haven, Michigan. We were looking around for a new apartment around Grand Rapids. And decided there was nothing we could afford. But life decided to give us this crazy chance. So we took it. Of course, we had to.

It's right in downtown Grand haven, on the corner of 7th and Clinton. It's a five minute walk to downtown, a ten minute walk to Lake Michigan. It's a three bedroom, sunroom, storage room,
outdoor deck and patio included apartment. And it's adorable.. and it's huge. And it's the same exact price we pay now. It didn't really matter where we lived because either way I have to drive everyday. But now the driving is easier on Brett, because he works in Spring Lake. I just have to drive 4 times a week to Grand Rapids for classes, but I was planning on making that same drive to Muskegon 4x a week anyway. But this time, we'll have an amazing apartment. I'm turning the sun room into a sitting area / art studio. We're going to buy a hammock for the outdoor deck.

We're going to have parties like you wouldn't believe. Coast guard party, summer BBQ's, Tiger's games parties, you name it. The Christmas party is going to be absolutely amazing. We're turning the huge bedroom into a rec room/office. We're taking the gorgeous back bedroom. And we'll have an extra bedroom for the guest room, because people are going to want to stay the night... every night. It's like you're on vacation. We're going to be paying less a month than tourists pay for a week in Grand Haven. Hahaha, love it. Can't wait to be the entertainer, grilling on the BBQ, serving fresh lemonade, scooping up sorbet into martini glasses and topping them with mint leaves. I love how I'm so domestic. We figured. We're young, we're alive. Let's take a chance. Let's make the most out of this life.

Sidewalk Chalk Flood

Today in downtown Grand Rapids was the Sidewalk Chalk Flood. It was super sweet and I loved it! Jen and I met up and scootered downtown and ate TGI Friday's for lunch. Mmmmm! Then we walked around for a bit. We headed down to Vertigo to meet up with Brett to support your local record store day. Then we all walked around downtown for a bit checking it out. And created a little bit of artwork of our own! It was gorgeous weather today, and I loved hanging out with Jen & the hubster. Great day!

New Tall Ships' Van

Sunday, Brett called on some van on Craig's list to see what it was exactly. Well we ended up picking up Jeremy and heading over to check it out. It was in a decent neighborhood which was promising and the two people selling the van were such nice people. Well we took this hunk of junk out for a test drive and pulled into a church parking lot to look under the hood. Well it stalled and died on us, so the two guys had to come jump us. But it's because the battery hasn't been used in such a long time. Well honestly, this thing is a piece of crap, but it is seriously awesome. The guy was selling it originally for $400.00; but we ended up getting it for $300.00! So Tall Ships' has a new van. Oh boy; the memories to be made.

Downtown GR Photographs

Saturday, Brett and I went downtown with Peter and Andrea so she could take some amazing photographs of us. I absolutely love them. They turned out so great. We headed downtown by the bridges first, walked around down by the river and headed up back toward the tire swing to finish up. I'm super excited to see the CD she has for me. Afterwards, we walked down to TGI Friday's to eat. Great night. Thanks so much Andrea!

Broken Clavicle

So last night, Brett and I were at Spectrum Emergency until about 12:30 in the morning because he has a fractured clavicle (collar bone). I got a call on my way out of the gym saying he fell on his scooter and thinks he broke his shoulder. He was out riding with Jeremy and Peter on their scooters, and he hit a huge pothole on Leonard street. His scooter (and him) did a front flip together, and the scooter landed on top of him. He has a few cuts and scrapes on his legs and back, but the worse is in the clavicle. His scooter is also wrecked, which is such a bummer. But it will definitely be a while before he gets back on a scoot!
