Blog studio

Brett and I finished the "blog studio" today! We basically had a lot of it done a couple weekends ago, but I was waiting on some poster pictures to get back from the printer and we needed wall anchors to hang up my big ol' frames! I'm a sucker for picture frames. We have so many frames all over our apartment. Our apartment is slowly becoming "complete". I just need to finish the laundry room and the sun room and it'll be perfect. I really want to stay here for a while. This will definitely be the last place we rent, at least. Next move is to buy a house - and I'm thinking in a couple of years, we'll be ready, but for now I'm just in love with our place. It's the perfect beach town apartment.

I am a huge organizational freak. I just need things to be put away. Out of sight, out of mind, I say! Sometimes I can't relax on the couch when I know the floor underneath it is dirty. Or if I see some cat hair fly across the floor like a rolling tumbleweed, I feel instantly uncomfortable and gross. It's such a weird feeling. When I lived with my parents when I was a teenager, my mom would never have to scold me to clean my room. I'm too much of a neat freak, I think. While Brett, on the other hand, could live in complete filth! You should have seen his apartment when I first met him. Eww.

We basically got everything for the studio from IKEA! The desk, the chair, the boxes and magazine files, the picture frames, the magnetic board.. I love it. It's so cheap and everything looks wonderful together. All of the colors were so easy to match and everything is a piece of cake to put together (thank you, Brett!) I did install the filing boxes though! Go me! But now I have boxes for shipping materials, letters I get in the mail and everything else. It's so nice to find everything right where you need it!

The kitties are banned to the futon in the other area of this room. They keep sitting on my new chair in the studio and it's fuzz-covered already. We just shaved Meg the other day. I should have taken video.. it was like a complete garbage can full of cat hair. So yucky! She's so fat and lazy.. so she can't really bend around and clean herself, so she's just a grease pile, so we have to shave her down to nothing. She's on the right. Her name is Meg, but we just call her fatty. The one looking at you all crazy is Sergeant Death; aka Sarge. They make life interesting to say the least!

Brett is excited because he got a new place to put his record player and all of his records! He was so helpful in my studio. I mean, I get a whole corner in this apartment devoted to my obsession with blogging... and he gets a measly little cabinet for his obsession with records. What a darling husband! From everything from the actual IKEA experience from the installation at home, it's a true test of marriage! In IKEA, at first, we're just like Tom and Summer in (500) Days of Summer.. so happy and in love.. then we get down to the marketplace.. and you can tell Brett is getting more aggravated. Come the rug section, he's starting to hate me.. and then the picture frames next.. full on hate! Then.. the warehouse? Murder face! Afterwards, I always have to go for pizza for him and then about an hour into the drive home, we're back in love again until he has to install these crazily insane pieces. If you can get through IKEA in your marriage, you can accomplish anything! ;)

I am very envious of your "blogging" corner!
The pictures all look so great- it's amazing how successful you've become in the blogging world so fast!!

Brett is such a darling. I hope whomever I marry will put together furniture for me and go with me to IKEA :). Darling :).

One of these days I PROMISE I am actually going to send you a letter :).

PROMISE!

Oh my gosh! Where to start?! You're studio is amazing! I love how organized you are, I am the exact same way...but lately I have seemed to accumulate way more than I have the space for.

I'm glad you survived IKEA! Gavin and I are the same way...but food always puts us both back in a loving state of mind :]

this is awe-inspiring and so so darling! I love to see your space sometimes, as well as all your adorable outfits! I hope I can have a little office someday with a great man in my life who won't make fun of me for my hobbies, instead of just my (very accepting & loving) pup and my laptop on my bed ;]

Those kitties are funny, we have a fat cat at work named Meowchi who is too lazy to clean hisself, so we chase him around constantly with a brush.

Those framed pics of you and other bloggers are such a lovely touch. Go Tieka!
Sorry for the novel! I hope the rest of your weekend is lovely.

oooo... this looks wonderful. I wish I was half as organized as you. I really want to be and try so hard... but i live in filth I swear. Its like the room will be spotless and a week later i could swear a tornado came through! I just don't know where the mess comes from! haha.

And I love your IKEA story... haha!

I love this! I've really wanted that chair from IKEA, too. Is it comfy? You're lucky you have Brett. I took my two guy roommates to IKEA with me after we moved into our apartment, and they totally ruined the whole experience for me, and I ended up leaving without anything because they were that annoying.

I'm the same way about things being clean and in place. I get anxiety if there's stuff on tables or dishes in the sink. Everything just needs to be put away in its proper place. I always feel like Monica from Friends with my OCD about it.

Oh Tieka! This is so pretty! I'm very jealous of this space as it's pretty much the size of my apartment, ok kidding just a little but really, how perfect is that little happy space of yours!Oh and I love how you have the Delight/dozen maps framed! So cute and a great idea! Mine are shooved in my drawer at work since I mail everything out of the office. Your method is way better.

It's great to have a corner just for yourself! I love the colors in this room! And I love your new chair :)

I went to Ikea with my boyfriend once..we both needed some stuff and it was really great fun, but he didn't let me buy too much from the decoration section though :)

So true about Ikea.

My sweetie's record collection is huge. It really is so wonderful when you can find a home for stuff like that. We had shelves built for his.

Your office looks wonderful. You are totally going to groove off of having this space to work. I love my work area at home.

Oh cute! Look at the pictures of you me and Andrea at the hotel on your desk!!! Love it! I adore Ikea. I don't know why people get aggravated by it (BRETT!). It's like a magical land! Now, WalMart- that'll get me pissed off in about 2 seconds of walking it.

I like that you have the maps on the wall. I should probs do that so I have all those addresses right on hand. I actually cleaned up my desk area last night in an attempt to be more organized...

I just spent 5 minutes reading through all 87 comments left so far.. no more compliment inducing posts ok? I mean I have very important things to do with my time.. like online shop.

I think IKEA for other couples is what st vinnys and goodwill are for the Manfriend and I. I'll send him pic messages begging to get this ridiculous bookshelf or chair and he has to try and talk me down or help me move it into my apt when I ignore his advice and get the item anyways.
