Imagination station

It is absolutely gorgeous outside right now, as we speak, as it has been all day long. I can't believe I spent most of my day inside working and now I'm sitting in class. I'm so glad I didn't have my video class today because I got a few minutes to take a quick bike ride with Brett, play on the imagination station, eat dinner downtown and tour the cutest house ever. It was maybe the best afternoon.. ever! Let me break it down first.. this weather. 78 degrees. In Michigan. In March. That is so nuts, but I'm not complaining at ALL. It's so gorgeous. It's the best feeling in the world when you don't even feel a tiny twinge of cold. Ah!

I styled this romper in the fall, but it was dying to be worn again. A lot of girls said last time they wished they could see the one-shoulder detail, and since today was so gorgeous, I thought I could risk it! And it felt amazing! I still wore a cardigan on our bike ride though. I just got this belt from ModCloth today - and of course, had to wear it the second I tore it out of the box. I love this belt. It's going to go with so many of my outfits. The cream color, and the crocheted style is so lovely. I've been on the hunt for chunkier belts. Now I just need to convince Chandra to let me borrow this one here!

Well, Brett and I grabbed a bite at Downtown Dogs and decided to ride bikes looking for adorable houses in our neighborhood. Well we get back to our cozy little apartment and look two doors down to this yellow house that has been for sale for quite some time. We walk down the road to peak inside the windows and nearly collapse with how adorable this house is. We lurked around outside peaking in all of the windows until a very nice gentleman came outside and said, "Can I help you?" And I was like, "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry we're like lurking outside of your house!" Well it was empty, but he lives next door and is selling this house, so he gave us a tour. It's amazing. It has four bedrooms, a study (basically a library), adorable kitchen, dining room, huge basement (with a CAT door!) and upstairs there is a maid staircase. Brett said he knew as soon as the guy said maid staircase I was sold. If you don't know, I've dreamt about my life in an adorable vintage house with secret doors and passageways. I nearly died looking at this house. So.. Brett and I are going to put an offer down. Tomorrow. ;) (Maybe not really, but seriously maybe?) It's in my neighborhood, still next to our signature railroad tracks.. and the year built is unknown (estimated 1900) with a maid staircase and secret mini doors. If I don't have this house.. I'll just die! Haha!

those shoes are AMAZING! I'm not a heel-wearer AT ALL and fall flat on my face whenever I try, so I'm always on the lookout for gorgeous flats and I just... those ones are making me all flustered with WANT!

The house sounds so adorable & you sound settled that it's practically yours, hehe. Hope that you get it, for this sake!

The romper is soooo cute. Can't believe you're having such nice weather! Just went north to Scandinavia where it's really nice, then came back down south to the UK where it's bloody freezing. Where are you, sun?! I'm wanting to raid my spring wardrobe like you now.

You look adorable. I remember seeing that romper! The print is so lovely. I love the shoes and belt together too. I actually kind of NEED those shoes. I'll have to check out Buy Definition for sure!

These pictures look exactly like a park where I live. I was going to go take outfit shots there recently, but there were a ton of little kids and I felt like a weirdo, haha.

The house sounds amazing! I really hope you get it. It would be so fun to see it and watch the move-in process via your blog! Good luck, girl.

That romper is so cute! Everyone keeps finding really cute things at F21 lately, and then I go to mine and those things are nowhere to be found :( I really love the one shoulder detail, and that belt is perfect!

As for the etsy thing, I'm just kind of doing it until I get caught, maybe? I still mainly want to sell vintage, but I thought what could it hurt to sell newer things? We'll see what happens.

I hope this doesn't seem creepy...but I figured I should just tell you this haha. I was sitting outside of Kendall today while my friend was smoking and I saw this outfit and was like "Oh, I have that romper!" and then I see who it is and I was like "Ohhh I read her blog!!!" and I have been waiting to see you around Kendall for a while now...so that kind of made my day. Again, I feel creepy but I figured it must be said.

That's so cool about the house! My parents and siblings and I live in the house that my great-great grandfather built in 1920. It has a maid staircase too, and a maid bedroom that we use for a den. There are also these little buttons all over the house that ring for the maid down in the kitchen. We also have a couple of little doors in the upstairs, but these are only access doors for the bathroom plumbing. I love old houses!

Gracey Loo said...

ha! home buying is contagious! but that house sounds fun, SSBF and I looked at a seriously old house, built around 1920 in an area called catonsville, it was beautiful but needed tons of work.

make sure you get a home inspection:)

p.s. i'm SO jeal of your 78 degree weather. today was 54 degrees [seriously freezing for california] and it poured all day. i spent my day getting drenched outside while trying to manually unscrew a million screws from this HUGE stupid wooden crate that was too big to fit through the door of my work so i could inspect a chandelier for a client [ugh] i'm done venting now :)

The house sounds cool! I once accidentally toured an old protected townhouse (same lurking around situation as you guys). It had a food elevator from the downstairs kitchen to 2nd floor dining hall and I loved that.
Way out of my budget though, so if you find something affordable like that I say go for it!

i think this post rocks! your photos, and you, look awesome! and i'm loving, loving, loving the news about this new dream house. i've always had the dream to buy my own house, and i went with my parents a couple summers ago to an open house for one i'd had my eye on. ah! it was perfection for me: hardwood floors, finished little basement, brick, sun porch... i could go on and on! anyway, now it's been bought by someone else and i like to think that they're taking care of it until i can buy it in a few years. so, in the meantime, i'm going to live vicariously through other people. haha! keep the updates coming. xo.

AH- I saw the imagination station and laughed a little too much at my office job and drew some odd looks... I used to play on the one by my house ALL the time when I was a kid, and now only occasionally, I really should go more often! The romper is absolutely adorable- I love the asymmetrical collar line!

Good luck with the house! It sounds incredible! My dream house is pretty specific too- I love 1920s bungalows and craftsmans, wide wood planked floors, stone fireplace, absolutely a library, large kitchen (complete with original stove- we have a 1920s stove in our house now- I never want another), plenty of light, and a refurbished attic perfect for a studio space, a garden (flowers, herbs, and vegetables), a balcony some where would be nice too, and of course, like you,- secret passages/stairwells are always a bonus...

That's probably way too much information for a comment post, but I can't help but be over enthusiastic when I talk about things like that- I am sure whatever home you have will be incredible, but this house does sound like a keeper!

Oh and one more thing on this ridiculously long comment- your photo shoot is BEAUTIFUL!!! Sounds like you had an amazing day--- you look stunning and really make the jewelry pop!
