Nautical knots

Oh my goodness, what a weekend! I've been the busiest person on the planet, but it was so much fun! I had a million things to do for the blog and what not, but I basically just took the whole weekend off and enjoyed it with amazing friends and toured with my husband's band, Tall Ships. I'd relive every moment - every sweaty, dirty, gross moment. It was honestly so fun.

Friday night, my darling husband, Brett, and I headed out to Nautical Knots. It's one of those local spots you must visit if you're in Grand Haven - for a super yummy, soft pretzel. Brett loves his cinnamon sugar and I love my buttery salty ones. When I put this outfit together.. I was trying to think of something fun that gave me the opportunity to wear a nautical inspired outfit and I go, "mmm, I could totally go for a nautical knot!" and then I thought, oh my gosh! How perfect, haha!

(jeans - old navy | compass rose necklace - c/o modcloth | striped tank - forever 21
cardigan - c/o talbots | heels - moda via dsw | nautical ropes bag - forever 21)

Am I a dork for always matching my outfits or putting themes to them? I don't know, maybe, probably. But it's so much fun! And to be honest, it's a lot easier to style up outfits when they have a fun theme or a quirky aspect to them to match my surroundings! I received the cardigan from Talbots and knew I wanted a nautical theme and all of the pieces just fell together perfectly! Plus, I toured with Tall Ships all weekend long. Hehe! I'm silly.

We were in Grand Rapids on Friday night, Howell, Michigan on Saturday for Bled Fest (amazing, amazing fest!) and on Sunday we headed to Chicago! I splurged at Urban Outfitters - can't wait to show off my new shoes! And then on Monday we were back in Grand Rapids. We stayed in the grungiest hotel of all time in dirty Lansing. It's moments like those you remember for a lifetime. Seven of us in a one-bed hotel room. A very dirty one. Hahah, life is so good. I hope you all had a super amazing, wonderful Memorial Day weekend. I'm so sorry I've been terrible on commenting back - this weekend has been so busy, but I promise to play catch up this week! I love you all. <3

I just love this outfit. I'm really into stripes as of late (who isn't?) and I am drooling after your tank

This outfit is so cute, Tieka!

You are not a dork for matching your outfits to themes and such. I do it all the time! I love dressing with a theme.

And guess what?!? I wore a red stripe tank, polka-dot headband, dark jeans, and wedges on Memorial day- we kinda matched, but in our own style. =)

HEHEHE.

Teika you are so cute!!!!

I love the pattern mixing- I was seriously inspired by you to try that months ago and now it's all I do. Seriously. i can't wear something unless it has more than two patterns together!!! It has just skyrocketed.

The 7 people in one hotel room sounds crazy but something absolutely exhilerating too- it's what being young is about right???

I told my boy about you and about your life in grand haven! And I think he has a mancrush on Brett! Hehe! Hipsters...;) He looked at him and was like, "where does brett get his flannel???? He's HIP!" It was so cute!
He also said that his family lives in grand haven!!! The Dumroeses?? It would be amazing if you knew them. Hahahaha.

Anyways...
you're lovely Teika.

You never cease to be anything but.

Love,
Maggie:)

This outfit would be so perfect on the ship tour! You should come join me! :) hehe. Your hair looks so so good in these photos. I was at the dinner table and said "Tieka uploaded a post!" I got so excited, people on the ship must think I am so weird. I loved this post though. Nautical Knot looks so pretty..I have a deep love for ships and anything nautical. What a lovely sweater from Talbots....you look so lovely as always, and I love the themes in your outfits, it makes them so much more fun to look at, and besides, you put them all together SO well! Have a great week, Tieka! x

anyway, you look super chic!

aaaaaaaaand now i want a pretzel.

I work behind Talbots and I've been in there once and only because someone gave me a gift certificate to there and after browsing I ended up giving it to my mom and she bought something. The clothes seemed so old-lady-like to me but the cardigan that you received is so cute and fits this outfit perfectly.
They are hiring so I may just mosey on over there and look around and apply for a job. :)

And those shoes! I'm loving them so much!

Yah, you're so not a dork for having themed outfits. I do it ALL the time. Well, maybe that just makes us both dorks. Either way, least we're having fun.

Your outfit is so cute. I love the stripes and polka dots.

Also, I'm jealous of the pretzels. I could totally go for one right now.

Yeah, you're a dork for planning around your destination but an adorable dork and that's why we love you!

I love the stripes with the polka dots, too, very subtle. And seeing you in jeans instead of a skirt or dress is refreshing, too. (Not that I complain about the skirts and dress, 'cause they're always super cute.)

Oh Tieka, you are so cute! I love your outfit. I was reading this post and told my friend, "look at this couple! they're so cute! they're as adorable as naomi and josh from rockstar diaries!" Haha. Sorry to be creepily exclaiming about how cute you are, but I just love your blog! :)

What an adorable bag! I love your themed outfits, they are so much fun! My husband's parents live in Howell. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but I always love going out there because it's so pretty.

I love the cardigan - the lining is so cool showing! My boyfriend has a sailboat and we go out often... he HATES it when I dress nautical and we wind up going out on the boat... it's just too much for him to handle or something. But I like it when it happens!

oh very cute outfit! and totally not a dork for styling your outfits for the occasion, i love to do that too!! i totally want a delicious soft pretzel now! :(

p.s. did you get your heart cutout dress from Ruche?? i ordered one...and I'm super disappointed. It's not like a heart at all, maybe like an upside down teardrop? it's straight across on the top, instead of going down into the heart point. Sigh. That's the whole reason I got it! i might return it...did yours do the same??
