Duncan's woods

It feels like autumn is so close! I was freezing on my scoot today! I wore my green cardigan over this and was still so cold! You always know summer is ending when the mornings and evenings are chilly and the middle of the day is hot as ever. I never know what to wear - just layers and layers so I can adjust as the day goes on! We get a lake effect from Lake Michigan which keeps us "cool" in the summer and "warm" in the winter. I'm just excited to start wearing some fall items I've been storing in my closet!

When I saw this dress on ModCloth, I had to have it, of course. You guessed it - floral print, a daring back, a sleeved dress and the ballerina/skater style skirt was too perfect to pass up! I absolutely love the way Starr styled it up - I had to give it a go myself! This will be a perfect dress to go right through fall. It's a polyester/spandex dress, so it's unlike any other dress I own, I feel like. Definitely a unique item that I'm excited to style up again! I also couldn't wait any longer to wear these cute little oxford flats from Target - and my square pile on rings that I just got this weekend. I love the look of layered rings.

(never a wallflower dress - c/o modcloth | oxfords - target
rings - forever 21 | belt - urban outfitters)

Phew, I've been pretty busy trying to finish up summer outfits, things on my to-do list and all of my planning for NYFW! I just registered for the IFB Evolving Influence conference after making some very last minute plans. I just booked my flight today - it will be the first time I've ever flown alone (I'm so freaked!) The last time I was in an airplane was for our honeymoon three years ago! I hateee flying. My ears pop and I'm all nervous. It just feels so unnatural up there! I'm just going to bring headphones and some magazines and breathe through it. I'm so excited for New York though! Especially to see everyone (especially you, Elizabeth!) and to attend some great events! Two more weeks!

That dress fits the Tieka trifecta, it's perfect for you! Sooo lovely!

I used to be really nervous flying too, like panic attack nervous. What helps me is to take a Dramamine 1 hour before boarding and drink a can of ginger ale on the plane. The combo really helps me relax and calms my stomach. The soda is 3 points but it's so worth it! You'll be just fine :)

you seriously look amazing. The natural light in your photos is just stunning.

I am crazy about the floral print of this dress and the cut of it is to die for.

I am so jealous about the IFB event.... I really wanted to go but couldn't get the trip together. Hopefully I will be able to make it to NY in February.

You look beautiful, Tieka! I love that dress -- it is very you and very adorable.

I might have to make a Target run for those cute shoes :)

The open back dresses look fantastic on you, but I can never figure out how to wear things like that. How do you wear a bra with them? Your bra straps are never showing, so do you have any protips?

Alright, I think I might just cave in and purchase this. Too perfect for fall transitioning.

I LOVE this outfit. Entirely my style.. I won a gift card awhile ago from The Clothes Horse and chose to use it at modcloth. This was one of the dresses I was seriously considering but didn't get because I'm too busty to not wear a bra. It's too bad though... sooo cute. I love the oxfords too.

It's a darker and more mature palette than your usual florals. Very nice and still fall appropriate :)

I am scared of flying too! It helps to calm me down when I think of all the people who fly on an almost daily or weekly basis (celebrities, models, business men) and they are all fine!

Ok this is going to be a long comment... I love love love everything about this post! I have a near identical dress (I'm wearing it in the middle picture in my header!) and it is my favourite dress at the moment, I adore it so much. You look GORGEOUS in yours!

Don't be nervous about your flight! I hated flying until I flew by myself for the first time when I was 12, and now I find it quite fun in an unnatural kind of way... just take lots of sweets and trashy mags :)

Ah! I have such mixed feelings about the seasons changing. On one hand I'm dying to sport some beautiful Fall clothes, but on the other I feel totally cheated out of Summer. How did it go by so fast and what happened to all the good weather? :(

Love the oxfords! I will have to make a Target run soon...

The best way to stay warm on you scoot is to wear something windproof like leather, faux leather, or a windbreaker. I have a pepto pink Members Only jacket I use to keep warm on cool mornings.

Have a blast at NYFW! I soooo wish I could go.

fantastic dress.. looks great on you! I have a question for you... Have you gotten invites to the big fashion shows of fashion week? I know a lot of the smaller designer shows let people in more leniantly and I know a lot of bloggers get invites to all the shows. Just curious as to what your NY fashion week experience looks like...

I have the exact same dress but I did not get it at Modcloth. I bought it at a super cheap RTW shop for $15.00 AUD. I am a bit worried that ModCloth are selling it for $52.00 USD which is approximately 4 times as much as what I paid for it. And when you consider that the store I was buying it from sells stuff from China and still makes a profit ~ I wonder how much ModCloth is making off this?

And what happened to their supporting indie products policy? I have actually read about this on other blogs too... Not cool ModCloth.

But back to topic ~ I adore this dress too. I love it and wear it all the time. It looks great on you too Tieka! ^__^

For all the gals wondering how to do a low back dress when you need to wear a bra, I just go with a tank top underneath {you could do it in a nude tone if you liked} to cover up the straps. Or a cardigan over the top.

b. of Depict This!

Aw don't freak out about flying! I remember the first time I did it alone, and I was pretty freaked, too, but once you realize that there's nothing to even be freaked out about, you'll calm. Buy a magazine and a bottle of water before you get on and relax.

I love the setting of these photos. The way the light comes through the trees. You always look so cute in your florals.
