Pier peddler

Back to the daily grind! It's like we came back from vacation to autumn! It's 70 here, but feels even colder than that and it's overcast and cloudy! Downtown wasn't half as busy as it should be in the midst of summer. Ooh, I'm just not ready for summer to end yet. Of course, autumn is my favorite season but I'm having too much fun this summer. Plus, I need at least a few more trips into the waves of Lake Michigan!

We grabbed a bite of ice-cream down at a local ice cream shop, Pier Peddler. It's a cute little shop with touristy gifts! It's funny seeing all the touristy items on our trip in the upper peninsula and coming home to more of the same! Do any of you live in tourist towns? Do you like it or hate it? I personally love it - I think it's so fun when Grand Haven is bustling in the summer!

(dress - swap with emily from the daily fashionista | skirt - zara
canvas wedge - urban outfitters | symmetrically pleased belt in rusty brown - c/o shop ruche)

I'm working on wrapping up some of my summer outfits! I still have some items I haven't worn yet for summer - I really need to get my butt in gear. I bought this skirt in Chicago last month and I love the little heart print design! I also see my canvas wedges online at UO and linked to them in case you asked me about them! They have different colors too and they are so comfortable. I could walk everywhere in these! They'll transition really well into my autumn wardrobe too. I'm so excited for fall clothes!

You're wearing your side braid again - it must be autumn soon, hehe! I am seriously so jealous. It's coming up to spring here... I'm having to go through everyones spring archives to cheer myself up!

I love that you layered a skirt over a dress, you look gorgeous. That little heart print is perfect!

I do live in a touristy area, and I do love it! It's fun to think you live in a place where people want to vacation :)

You look amazingly beautiful!

Ahh, I adore your hair! And lucky! It cooled down in Ohio today (yay! Just for my birthday :D!), but it's just far too humid still for me or my hair to handle. I love love love your skirt, too! I've been obsessed with heart prints recently. Oh and of course I would read this post to see you eating ice cream right after I ate cake... aghhh, so full!

How come your legs look so good?! Eeep. I want good legs! (Nathan was looking over my shoulder as I typed this and kept banging on the keyboard to make me delete what I just wrote because apparently he thinks my legs are good!) but seriously - you look fantastic in this skirt - go Zara! They always have such nice stuff. I wanted to buy these wedges on UO a while ago - I think they're so cute. You look all around great, I cant wait for Autumn..even though Australia NEVER gets it!

i can spot a Zara skirt a million miles away now thanks to working there! (that skirt is now on sale for 10 dollars if there is any left haha!)

By the way I have two things to tell you,

1. I saw your twin on the train today only very unfashionable, but it was so weird
2. I think you need this, and I wish I could show Brett and tell him to buy it for you - http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/CategoryBrowse.aspx?search=1&search_params=s+1-p+1-c+-r+-x+-n+12-ri+-ni+1-t+scooter

you look so cute!! I love this outfit. And I want some of that ice cream :) I guess I live in a touristy town but the touristy things are NOT fun haha

Love this outfit! That top (dress) is absolutely amazing! You look gorgeous lady.

I live in a touristy town, but Austin doesn't really have the typical tourist attractions. It's mainly the music scene that draws people here...you should see how crowded it gets during SXSW!

ice cream is the perfect accessory during the summer time! i love how you put together this entire outfit (i almost bought this skirt at zara the other day but resisted)! i'm jealous of your 70 degree weather, i'm anxious for it to be autumn again! :)

This is such an amazing outfit. I love that skirt, and that dress looks great as a top.

My boyfriend's sister and her family will be Grand Haven tourists this weekend!

I live in St. Paul, MN. While I think it is a great city, it isn't super touristy.

What a wonderful skirt its so pretty. When I read your blog I long for the day when I can say f-you to New York and move somewhere out west like Michigan or WIsconsin and never look back.

I love that skirt and little brown belt together! Your town always looks/ sounds so cute! My boyfriend and I are thinking of moving to a VERY touristy place (in the summer atleast) - Myrtle Beach! I can't wait

I can do without the tourists but it's money for our small town. And there is so much to do with our festivals and tour of homes and things. I can't complain about living surrounded by the ocean.

I am sick of this heat, too! I'm almost ready for Fall and to start wearing my new buys. Wanna switch for a week? We'll appreciate it all more afterwards.

I agree you look quite fit here, Tieka. That vacation must have been a lot of exercise for you! Also, I like this outfit and would wear it in a heartbeat :)

you look so cute as always, and the wedges are great! Really versatile and like you said, they will be perfect for autumn as well!

Welcome back! I cannot believe how much it's cooled off in your neck of the woods. It's still blisteringly hot during the day around here, although the nights have cooled significantly. PGH isn't necessarily 'touristy' although we do have our fair share of visitors. I'd say it's most obvious (read annoying) during Steelers games.

I love the photos and your outfit- amazing :]

Great outfit and I really love your wedges.
i live in Tallinn, Estonia and we have a historical old-town from the medieval times and it is my favourite place in the city. it is so fun in the summer, to just sit, eat ice-cream and watch all the tourists take photos and all. At times like these I think that i'm super-lucky to live in such place :)

As always, I want this outfit!!! You look wonderful. I live in a super touristy town too. It's very quaint and located right on the Long Island Sound with a ton of cute boutiques. As nice as it is to live in such a cute village it's a PAIN to drive downtown in the summer because of all the people!! It can get super annoying.

This is going in my fashion inspiration folder. For some reason it just jumps out at me, maybe the lighter skirt darker top?
Looks like you had a beautiful day :)

so adorable! i'm loving the simplicity of your outfit yet it's so cute. I don't live in tourist town but i love such towns and all their "kitschyness" :)

Alejandra said...

Love Love Love the outfit! You've truly inspired me to become a tourist in my own town. I live in Miami, FL...which is already too touristy what with the beach and all..and I'm not into going to nightclubs at all. Ive lived here all my life and Ive never done any of the really touristy stuff like take little boat tours around the stars homes, or go to the museums. Thanks for all your ideas and daily inspirations!

I grew up in a super touristy part of Maine/ New Hampshire, on the one hand it's fun having all of that activity, but on the other hand a lot of college kids come up to party in the woods and out of towners just don't seem to have the same respect for nature as the locals do.

I love your skirt, so pretty!

April said...

super gorgeous, i love the polka dots! and your hair :)

and it's a lot cooler here too, but i'm kind of loving it. i can't wait for summer to be over, and after the intense 95+ degree weather we had this summer, this coolness is MUCH appreciated!

well, i live in orange county, just a little ways from los angeles/hollywood... so tourists are always EVERYWHERE i go! ;) (especially in hollywood and in the disneyland area. and the beaches, of course) it's so funny/entertaining/but also kind annoying sometimes living in a tourist area, but it also makes me so very grateful that i was born and raised in a place that people from around the world visit! amazing.
