Riverview boardwalk

Now that it's getting darker earlier, I need to get on a new schedule with outfit posts! Last night's pictures turned out perfect and tonight... not so much! We headed out around 7:15 or so tonight, I think last night was a little bit earlier. Lighting is so tricky come this time of year! The nights get shorter and shorter! Oh well, each season I have photos and outfits I'm not necessarily crazy about. It happens to the best of us!

(sesame candy dress - c/o modcloth | blazer - urban outfitters | flats - jb and me)

It's my goal to get at least four outfit posts per week. I have so much in my closet that I haven't worn yet - even stuff from summer yet! Eep! It was such a stressful and crazy summer, hopefully now this autumn I'll have the time to tie up loose ends! I feel autumn is a time of rebirth - even though that time is technically spring, but it just feels like a fresh start to me. School begins (waa, not for me!) and the new fashion year begins. I say that with autumn, the new year and my birthday though too. I need a lot of fresh starts in a year apparently! ;)

Such a gorgeous backdrop and I think you're rockin' the blazer in a very feminine way. Looks great!

Oh, Tieka. Don't worry about having bad outfit days, I LOVE your outfits even when you are just being simple! You know why? Because you are real and your outfits inspire so much confidence in other girls! for example, this... I love it, yet it's so simple. I don't know. I just worship your blog because it's incredibly real and you take every reader into your world and it's great! Keep on posting your awesome outfits and everything else you manage to come up with :) I will read every day as I always do! :)

I'm so jealous that your half of Michigan is prettier than mine! lol We just don't really have pretty water on the southeast side.

Beautiful as always :)

I'm having the same problem with lack of light in my outfit photos. I was so excited about fall for the fall clothing and I totally forgot about the lack of light in the evenings. I do like this set of pictures - the light is sort of mystical. And the skirt and blazer look great.

i love this outfit!! it's so classy and sophisticated!!
i know what you mean about this time of year, you have to time outfit photos perfectly!!
i'd love to see 4 posts a week from you though!! i find it so hard to get motivated sometimes and i get down about my photography. but today was one of those amazing days where you don't think your photos look too good and then a bit of photoshop goes a long way!!
i love autumn- it's such a challenge but it's so fun. i don't really enjoy summer fashion. spring and autumn are my favourites :]]]
keep up the amazing work tieka, you're such an inspiration to all of us bloggers.

Hi Tieka! I love this look and especially love the blazer! Do you know the name of the style? I wanted to see if I could find it online. Thanks for your help! :)

Love the buttons and the collar on that dress! I'm having trouble with timing my photos too. Might have to start resorting to early afternoon instead.

I love the color in this! I couldnt believe it when I read 7:15. I cant take blog pictures past 5:00 because its way too dark and I live in Australia of all places, its supposed to be sunny! You look so gorgeous in all of these browns, ahhh I miss fall so much back home! Im boiling here and get laughed at when I wear tights - but I am in so much denial! I just want to have a leaf fight, hehe. Im still crossing my fingers that you get a job girl - chin up! x

Ha, I need a fresh start about 4 or 5 times a year too. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing, hehe!

And 4 outfits a week! You kill me girl. I cannot wait to see them all. Autumn inspiration is going to be radiating from your blog, that's for sure.

Take care! xx

I totally understand you with the whole time situation. I always feel like a have to rush with my bf to take pictures, plus it is super hot in L.A. so he is always complaining when we take pictures early in the day.. In so in a lose- lose situation heheh.

Anyway, I don't know why you feel bad about the pictures. I think they came out great! I totally feel the autumn weather on your side of the country. I love the detail of the dress and the flats. You never disappoint!

I actually like the photos, even if they're not your favorites. The dusky light gives them a very ethereal quality. The outfit is really cute too, it goes with the airy feeling of the photos.
And I know what you mean about needing to take photos earlier in the day. I love fall, but I hate how the light goes away so quickly.

what I like about your posts isn't even the clothes as much as the thought you put into your choices and the joy you have in everyday life...don't lose your spunk.
