Here are a few photos in a little recap! I'm thinking twice a month, or every other Friday, I'll do this! I really do feel like my life is measured by the month and what it provides.. weather-wise, holiday-wise or whatever. To be honest, although I'm loving life right now, I'm so excited for January to be finishing up this weekend. This month is too long! February is such a short little month, with a super fun little holiday in the middle and the promise of spring soon ahead. I'm super excited!

It has been a huge new year's resolution for me to start tackling those little things I want to do - one of them including reading books more often. Currently, I'm half way into Emily Giffin's Heart of the Matter. It's really good so far and I'm excited to get to the end. I force myself to hop into bed at 11 pm so I can read until 11:30 pm. Ever since I put myself on this schedule, I wake up so easily in the mornings!

This week, our band, took a little field trip over to Guitar Center. I have my heart set on a Telecaster and I'm pretty sure I'm going to soon trade in my acoustic for a tele to play in our band! I really want a mint-green one, but I can't seem to find one! Brett, Jesse and I played in the DJ room for a while - so much fun!

We have had some insanely cold temperatures lately! Brett and I were driving home from a movie last Sunday night and I had never seen my car thermometer get to the negatives before! So insane!

Brett and I had a silly afternoon playing with all of the icicles that are forming around our apartment. We opened up the window and snapped this off and Brett played air guitar with it in our living room. We are also saving an icicle in our freezer right now - so fun to bring those out in summer!

Our cat, Sarge, loves to be outdoors so Brett takes him out whenever he can. Even in the snow, he loves to explore and trudge through it - it's so funny to watch. Our rooftop is buried in snow right now with the biggest icicles ever! I love these two. :)

Oh help those icicles! I even can't imagine how cold -2F feels!
I love the icicles so much! ...but the practical Minnesotan in me is worried about the ice dams that are forming them...have you told your landlord? Ice dams can cause leaking inside attics and homes and such---and while the icicles are gorgeous, they are a sure sign of possible troubles!
Glad to see that you are enjoying winter!
Love the icicles! I am totally going to look for one at my house to save in the freezer.
Did you use some photoshop actions to make these Polaroids or something? Where did you get it? Love it!

That's so cool that your going for the tele. I'm pretty sure that Fender stopped producing the "surf blue" color that's the seafoam green though. I really wanted a fender bass that was that color, but it sold, and I have been unable to find another like it.
That would be a perfect color for you though!
What wonderful pictures. I really hope you can find your mint green guitar soon. That will be so cute!
heart of the matter sounds good! i've been reading a lot lately myself (ah, the life of an english major). anyway, you and brett are so cute!! i really love your blog and just realized that i wasn't following. so now i am! (:
I love Emily Giffin. I really enjoyed Something Borrowed and Something Blue, so I read each of her new books shortly after they were released. Plus, there's something appealing about an author who ditched her full-time law career to write books in London.
love these posts! Keep them up! Its fun to more of the everyday fun things you do!
i love this new feature! i really enjoy reading about people's lives, as well as their clothes, and i've always loved that you do that in your blog! have a beautiful weekend! <3
One of my resolutions is to read more too! So I've joined a book club to keep me accountable! Halfway through Great Expectations!
Sarge is so cute, my black cat Jude loves going outside too, although he never quite knows what to do once he gets out there. January looks like it was a wonderful start to the new year! <3

whew I would die in weather like that! My little southern toosh would FREEZE.
And I'm with you there on coffee. I find myself drinking it more and more (I'm really just a social drinker lol)
but I can't have it without some cream and sugar for sure.

take a peek at my blog. its a photo a day project im working on. i take a picture a day for a year! :)
loving this little recap - one of mine was to read a bit more too, seems to be a common resolution lol
Reading more books is a great resolution, good luck with it!
Hey Tieka! I hear ya about the the books thing. I'm so bad at concentrating on reading, I have to really force myself to, but I'm usually very happy when I do. I've read Emily Giffin before, I must try out some of her other books!
These are so great! I think I measure my life out in months as well.. that's a neat realization.
My husband and I have been reading this winter away too! We've been going through the Harry Potter series and taking turns reading aloud to eachother. It's a new favorite winter activity. I've got to try this 11:00 bedtime thing! Thanks for the icicle idea- we've got ones close to that size as well and now I want to freeze some of them! How fun. The other day my cat escaped outside (we live on a busy street) so to get the little rascal to run back inside Eric threw a couple wimpy snowballs in her direction until she had enough!
So glad to have found your blog!
Hope you'll check out mine. :)

adorable photos!!!! :)
I'm so glad you're continuing with these posts, I love them!!
I don't like regular coffee but isn't hazelnut coffee amazing?! I drank so much of that over winter! And ohh, you have to find a mint green Telecaster! That would be adorable.

i've been a major coffee drinker since i was 13 (i know...not something i'm proud of) and i'm trying to switch to tea. have you ever tried chai? it's a spicy tea that you mix with milk (i use soy) and honey. it seems a bit healthier than coffee and doesn't make your breath stinky or stain your teeth, haha.
I have been loving these recaps! So fun to see into your weekly life. I love the icycles! I want to put one or two into my freezer now ;) Mmm hazelnut creme coffee is my favorite! A girl after my own heart. I knew there was more than one reason of why I adore you so much!! Have a great weekend love.
Cute little details!
You & your husband are too cute for words:) I have recently became majorly obsessed with coffee too, but i think a lot of it..is working the night shift. If it wasn't for coffee I'm not sure how I would get through.
I liked Heart of the Matter! It was really touching and a good read. Hope you like it too! :o)

I cant wait to hear some more about your band and I love the architecture picture!
Brrr... - 2 is cold! It's -22 here right now :(:( Last year we got down to -68. I'm serious. We were the second coldest place on earth next to Siberia. Remarkably -2 and -68 feel pretty close to the same! Cold is Cold! No way around it! hehe

Omg i love how free-spirited you guys are, you guys must be fun to hang out with :)
Don't get snowed in! Or actually if you do, keep posting!
hey tieka, if you like emily griffin, you should read "something borrowed". it is seriously amazing - i can't even tell you how many times i've re-read it. oddly enough, i've never read the sequel, "something blue", because i'm convinced it won't be as good. really though - if haven't already, check out something borrowed!
