Dots on the tracks

I feel my outfits already getting more simple and it's only May! Eeps! It's so easy when it starts to get warm outside to just throw on a dress, a belt and some shoes. I need to figure out some fun summer accessories to spice up outfits. It has been so muggy lately, not necessarily hot yet but it's like... I don't want a ton of layers when it's so humid outside. But I can't lie... as much as I love tights, I'm loving bare legs right now!

I received this little polka-dot number from Shop Kempt! It came with a double-wrap belt... I love that! I used to wear double belts when I first started fashion blogging. Ah, the crazy things I'd do to not have to buy more clothes... and still try and make a "bold fashion statement" when I was on a college budget. Those days were fun and taught me a lot about how to stretch my wardrobe without spending money, but I can definitely say it's nice having a career... and extra money now!

So this is my one insane shoe splurge of the entire year. I remember when I bought my first Jeffrey Campbell shoes and they were $100, I nearly died... but I have worn those boots out like nobody's business and I see that happening with these too. They look like they are insane to walk in, but I can honestly say these are so easy to walk in. When I tried them on and was walking around the apartment, I was so shocked! Jeffrey Campbell is my weakness!

Tieka, that dress is absolutely adorable, and it fits you perfectly! I'm a total sucker for polka dots. I'm also kinda super obsessed with your shoes; totally worth the splurge!

I'm sure you'll think of some amazingly cute way to spice up the simple summer outfits, but you pull of the simple look so well!

Aw, Tieka - You look so adorable! I'm just in love with your hair in the second photo. It's perfection! I have been thinking about going darker for awhile now, and yours just looks so healthy and lovely!

The dotted dress is so cute and versatile - I can see it with a punchy colorful clutch, too.

Your shoes are so amazing. Seriously. I cannot imagine myself wearing such things. Especially considering how much I walk around, since I live in the city and go to an urban university. But I looove staring at your shoes :) And you, of course. Though that makes me sound a bit like a creeper.

I cannot wait until I can wear simple outfits like this. It's still cloudy and rainy here in Oregon :(

I'm a Georgia girl, so I totally understand muggy weather and wanting to default to simple ensembles. I've been really struggling with that lately.

this look is so fresh and lovely. I love the material and the way it drapes.

Seriously, I dont think this outfit could get any cuter! I think it looks great just so simple - especially with such bold shoes as the litas! I've never really liked them all that much before, but the way you've styled them is just perfect!

You look like a total sweetheart in that dress! And those Lita's are totally rad. When I got my first pair of JC's it was love at first sight as well. I don't mind have the one kind of indulgence.

Hey Teika,

I'm a relatively new reader and I wanted to let you know that I love your blog. Your style is absolutely gorgeous!

Additionally, I was wondering if you could possible do some sort of hair tutorial for the hairstyle you've recently been sporting - it's lovely, looks effortless and is something I would love to try. I'm sure you're really busy, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

Thank you so much!

I know exactly what you mean! I always feel like my summer style is verging on boring because it's so simple, but this outfit is anything but. I absolutely LOVE that dress and the Lita's look amazing on you!

I get the whole shoe splurge thing too - I just found the Jeffrey Campbell floral wedges you have, that I've been obsessed with forever, online! It's taking all my determination not to click over and buy them right now. BUT I've already had my big shoe buy of the year, sigh!

I have the same problem. Every year my go-to outfit in the summer turns into a pair of jean shorts or a skirt and a stretchy black tank top because I don't like worrying about sweat stains. I always say I'm going to wear better outfits, and by July I'm like, "naaaah, it's too hot!"

We share the same weakness! I love me a JC shoe, and I am saving up to buy myself a pair or three... glad to hear they're easy to walk in... comfy too I guess?

I don't think there's any harm in outfits being simple. I like it most when an outfit is real, not something you forced together so as not to be plain.
