Autumn Featured Blogger

For my autumn featured blogger, I'm so excited to feature Veronika of Girl and Closet. This gal is incredibly sweet and I adore her blog. Her outfits are super inspiring, her photography is something I strive for and I love the details about her personal life she showcases in her blog. She supports so many girls in the blogging community and I really admire that about her. I love seeing her comments come through my inbox because they always brighten my day. 1. What made you decide to start a personal style blog?

I had just spent a year working from home on my own business, which meant I was often living in nothing more than tights & cardigans. Needless to say, I was craving an outlet for fashion -big time! I spent most of my free time pouring over fashion blogs: Jen Loves Kev, Strawberry Koi & Selective Potential!

I was so inspired by what I was seeing and decided to jump on

the bandwagon. And oh my goodness... I’m so glad that I did because I absolutely love being a part of the fashion blogging community.

2. What do you love most about your town?

Ah, there is so much I love about our town. It was actually voted as one of the world's most livable cities. I’m so proud! I always marvel at how nature-rich our community is. We are surrounded by mountains, forests, ocean and loads of historic charm. I love that we have trains running through our town - haha, so blogger appropriate, right?! And a personal fave is the old heritage homes that have been converted into tea shops & restaurants. Adorable! I absolutely love were we live.

3. What is another passion of yours besides fashion?

Photography! I love planning shoots, running around with my camera and then rushing home to edit my photos. I’m often doing that instead of going out on a Saturday night - oh dear! I also love to cook & eat. I’m always dreaming up new recipes and I place a lot of importance on healthy & organic food. And I'm a huge yoga enthusiast.

4. What are some of your current favorite blogs?

I love to read & gently stalk: Jen Loves Kev, M Loves M, Strawberry Koi, Bonjour Babydoll, Delightful Dozen, Tick Tock Vintage and Selective Potential!

5. A favorite band/musician?

Ah, so many. I’m such a huge music fan. It’s a constant companion of mine. Currently, my most played bands and musicians are: Empire Of The Sun, The XX, The Cure, Handsome Furs, Shout Out Louds, Stars and She & Him.

6. Tell us a little bit about what you do as a freelance photographer!

I’d love to! I adore photography and I especially enjoy photographing people, so most of my jobs are centered around that. I do creative portraiture, fashion photography, some acting head-shots and band promos. I’ve always been super entrepreneurial and I actually run a couple of businesses. I always seem to have my hands full, which is exactly how I like it.

7. Where do you get inspiration for your style?

Style blogs are at the top of my inspiration list. I love seeing what other girls are wearing. And I also get a lot of my inspiration from TV shows; I would happily swap clothes with Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl or Carrie Bradshaw of Sex & The City. Oh, and I also religiously stalk my J.Crew catalogue and the ModCloth look-books!

8. What's your favorite thing to do with your husband?

I love doing the simple things! We always have so much fun together and after 13 years he's still my best friend. I love that! After a long day, I love walking down to the ocean with Martin and enjoying a little picnic, or just cuddling in front of the fireplace with our pooch wrestling to get in between us - that’s an absolute fave too!

9. What are your future dream goals?

I feel like I’ve accomplished so many of my goals in the last few years: finishing my business administration program, starting a business, buying a home, getting married. Now I feel like I’m just trying to get settled & enjoy where I am in life. Having said that though, growing my involvement in the fashion industry is definitely my long term career goal; it’s such a genuine passion!

10. Any tips for new style bloggers starting out?

Be kind and be genuine. Also, don’t be afraid to connect with other bloggers that you admire. It’s a very supportive community! I’m so thankful for the wonderful gals I’ve had the opportunity to meet & connect with. I would also say that having great blog design, a solid camera, and quality content are at the top of the list. And it's important to blog about the things that you truly love - remember to stay true to who you are!
