Palomita Reserve

It's official! Summer is over. It's so amazing to drive down the highway and see so much color. I feel like it all happens so fast! You blink your eyes and all of the trees are red, yellow and orange. It's so pretty. Naturally, I feel the need to fit in with my changing surroundings. I pushed all of my autumn clothes to the front of my closet and it's so fun to see how my closet looks so much like I'm driving down the highway! So many autumn colors. Aren't they the best, though?

The weather has been so mild and perfect for walking lately, so Brett and I headed over to the Palomita Reserve! It's a land conservancy that harbors natural communities that are native to West Michigan. "Palomita", which is Spanish for little dove is a perfect name for the land because historically this is a staging area for millions of doves. It's the perfect place to come and do a little bird watching!

When Brett and I stopped in Chicago on my way home from fashion week, he shopped at Reckless Records... while I hopped into Urban Outfitters. As soon as I spotted these pants, I picked them up. I absolutely love the color. Plus, they are so comfortable and I had a few compliments saying how 'classy' they looked. Double win! It's funny looking at the picture of them, because they are meant to be capris and I wear them as pants! I'm a shorty!

Everyone else super ready for the weekend? I am! Friday, my band is playing a house show which I'm really looking forward to! Saturday, we're headed to downtown Grand Rapids to explore ArtPrize and then off to Lansing later in the evening to see a band and interview an amazing girl for the blog (more details to come next week!) But before the weekend begins, I'll be posting on my autumn featured blogger tomorrow... so stay tuned!

I am so happy that there is so much color already! Kyle and I penciled in a date for next fall and I was worried about there not being enough color and there is already, yay!

Awesome about the show Friday! I hope to be able to go see you guys sometime :)

I'm so so jealous of the fall you're getting to enjoy. This is the time of year I'm most homesick since we don't get fall here. Soak it up! :)

I do love those trousers! I'm not ready for fall weather, but I can't say no to the rich fall shades - that burnt orange is beautiful.

Ooooh I love this outfit so sooo much! The color of the pants is delicious, and I love how they go with the shoes and lacy cool top. I know how you feel about being too short for most clothes; oh, this skirt isn't supposed to be a maxi?? :)

I gotta start photographing autumn here in Santa Cruz!

Steffys Pros and Cons said...

those are THE pants. best color, best shape. i need em in my life ;) btw palomita makes me think of when i lived in nicaragua bc i had an iphone app that taught me how to use spanish and i was so confused bc paloma means dove and palomita is popcorn, but its bc the little morsels of the popcorn are equivalent to "little doves" :) i thought it was charmin!

So jealous! I fell in love with these pants a couple months back. I was really sad when they looked awful on me, since I love the color and the fabric is so smooth. But they look amazing on you!

PS. I'd love to see pics of your closet- you have such a great wardrobe and I'm interested in seeing how you keep everything.
