Hometown lighthouse

This past weekend was beautiful. The sun was out and the temperatures weren't frigid (considering we're in the middle of December!) It's always funny because Brett and I travel so far to visit lighthouses, when one of the best ones in the state is right in our town and just five minutes from our apartment. I've always loved this lighthouse - it holds some of the best memories of my life!

Five years ago, Brett and I were taking a drive when he asked if I wanted to take a walk down the pier. It was the night before we were hit with a crazy winter storm. We bundled up and headed down to the lighthouse! When we got to the end, Brett asked if I was ready to go... and when I turned around, he was on one knee proposing! Of course, I said yes, and here we are five years later. (I found out a few years later that it was the same night the ring shipped to the jewelry store and he just couldn't wait to propose. It makes my heart melt.) We also walked down to the lighthouse on our wedding day and took our photos here. It's our special place!

I'm wearing a dress of Veronika's from a Delightful Dozen swap. It's her ModCloth namesake dress! I absolutely love it. I also love that Veronika has been on this pier with me too! This post just makes all kinds of sense right now. You can see how she styled it here. It's headed off to Elizabeth of Delightfully Tacky next. I'm excited to see how she styles it!

Well, I'm off! It's 12:15 in the morning, I didn't feel well or sleep well at all last night (ended up sleeping sitting up in our papasan chair) and I'm just busy and tired and ready for bed. Booooo. I'm excited for a long holiday weekend and time to just lay on a sofa and watch holiday movies. That just sounds lovely! I'll be announcing some of the 12 Days of Giveaways winners soon. You still have time to enter!

Outfit details:
Limited red cardigan
Target black tights
Naked Flats c/o Blowfish Shoes
Tama Asymmetrical ring c/o Poshlocket

I love visiting lighthouses, but I've never seen a red one before. Amazing outfit. There's nothing a love more than a red cardigan and a gorgeous pair of red shoes. I truly love the fabric of the romper.

That's so sweet that Brett couldn't wait to propose. Such a nice association to have with a certain place.
PS Love this dress & how you styled it. It would be great to get the DD to style your namesake dress too!

Hi Tieka! I LOVE your lighthouse! Aren't lighthouses magical?! I posted about the one where I live fairly recently. As a child, I visited it often with my Grandfather, so it holds lots of lovely memories for me. Although, nothing so lovely as a proposal! Your story is adorable! OXO Natalie

Oh, here's my lighthouse if you want to take a peek:
