Randolph Street Market

On Saturday, I attended the Randolph Street Market with Andrea and Veronika. First, we met up with a few other bloggers for photos, mimosas and introductions! It was great to meet Isa from Chicago Looks and Luis from ChiCity Trends. Isa photographed my outfit for her street-style blog, so you can check that out too!

(Luis and I)

We ate crepes, walked around the market looking at the most beautiful furniture, vintage dresses, shoes and jewelry! It was wonderful. It was a bit cold and windy in the city, but I'm glad the rain held off for the vendors! I had a great time in Chicago and it was so amazing to meet so many new people and hang out with two of my favorite people ever. I'm excited to go back again!

Randolph Blogger Happy Hour

This weekend has been amazing. I drove into Chicago on Friday to meet up with my dear friends Andrea from Blonde Bedhead and Veronika from Tick Tock Vintage. I was so excited to meet Veronika. We clicked instantly and I swear I don't think I could love that girl more. The three of us had so much fun. We went shopping for a bit, grabbed some delicious ice-cream and all got ready to head to the Randolph Street Market Blogger Happy Hour to meet up with other Chicago-based bloggers! I always love seeing those girls!

The blogger happy-hour was held at Plumber's Hall and there were plenty of free drinks! It was my first time drinking champagne... ew! Veronika was cracking up at me and drinking the rest of my drink. I opted for the rum and diet coke instead. It was so fun taking outfit shots with all of the girls outside in an alleyway! It's always amazing for me to get with a group of girls who understand the concept of 'outfit shots'. Haha!

All of the Chicago-based girls are so sweet. I absolutely love meeting up with all of them. From right to left, here are the bloggers in order: Sabrina from Defying My Closet, Tara from Haute Lunch, Tabitha from Fashion Therapist, Leilani from Thriftaholic, Lisa from Archives Vintage, Emily from Sartoriography, Veronika from Tick Tock Vintage, Andrea from Blonde Bedhead and me!

It's such a joy to get dressed up with girls, take photos, have some drinks, walk the entire way home with arms linked giggling over insane stories. We went home to have a couple of drinks before 'heading out on the town' but instead ended up laughing at dumb YouTube videos (old gregg!) on the internet and falling asleep early. Love these girls!

Thanks so much to the Randolph Street Market for hosting the blogger happy hour and providing snacks and drinks! It was such a great time and super fun to have a sneak peek of the market! I love going out to Chicago for fun events and can't wait for the next one. Thanks to all of the girls for hanging out - I had so much fun! xo

Dots on the tracks

I feel my outfits already getting more simple and it's only May! Eeps! It's so easy when it starts to get warm outside to just throw on a dress, a belt and some shoes. I need to figure out some fun summer accessories to spice up outfits. It has been so muggy lately, not necessarily hot yet but it's like... I don't want a ton of layers when it's so humid outside. But I can't lie... as much as I love tights, I'm loving bare legs right now!

I received this little polka-dot number from Shop Kempt! It came with a double-wrap belt... I love that! I used to wear double belts when I first started fashion blogging. Ah, the crazy things I'd do to not have to buy more clothes... and still try and make a "bold fashion statement" when I was on a college budget. Those days were fun and taught me a lot about how to stretch my wardrobe without spending money, but I can definitely say it's nice having a career... and extra money now!

So this is my one insane shoe splurge of the entire year. I remember when I bought my first Jeffrey Campbell shoes and they were $100, I nearly died... but I have worn those boots out like nobody's business and I see that happening with these too. They look like they are insane to walk in, but I can honestly say these are so easy to walk in. When I tried them on and was walking around the apartment, I was so shocked! Jeffrey Campbell is my weakness!

Rolling hills

I'm so surprised Brett and I even got any decent photos out of this post! He was making the craziest remarks about my outfit all evening long... and I honestly couldn't stop laughing all night. Usually he snickers when I walk out of the bedroom, but today he waited until we were at the gas station. He gets out of the car to pump gas, opens the door back up and goes, "And where are you going? Africa?" I died. Then I was sitting in the car and he was pumping gas and I hear him singing the Lion King soundtrack from outside. When I asked him to go inside to get me a drink, he goes, "What do you want... jamba juice?" Hahaha!

I actually really liked this outfit! A little bit eclectic sure, but a long flowy dress with a huge flowy scarf? So comfortable and pretty! This skirt is actually Julie's from Orchid Grey. She's passing it around the Delightful Dozen and it's been so fun to see how each girl styles it. You can keep updated on how everyone wears it at our blog and you can also see how Julie, Elizabeth and Starr have styled it so far at this post!

I'm all about matchy-matchy. I never know if that's a good or bad thing, but when this scarf matched the dress colors so perfect, I knew they were meant to be together. I'm so in love with styling scarves around your shoulders. I went through a major phase when I first started blogging and used to do this all the time! One of my favorite beginner blogger outfits actually had a giant belted scarf! Gosh, I can't believe how much time has passed. I'll be celebrating my blog 2-year anniversary in September. Crazy! It feels like I'm still a newbie sometimes!

Megan Nielsen SS2011

I have been so excited to announce Megan Nielsen's SS2011 Sunburnt Country line! She asked me to be a part of it and I couldn't have been more thrilled. Not only is she an amazing friend and the sweetest girl ever, she makes amazing clothing. When I received the items to style, I seriously was in awe over every piece. Be sure to head over to her website to check out all of the items! She even let me keep a couple... and I can't wait to style them up again for the blog! Thanks for all of your lovely comments so far and support! Be sure to tell Megan what a wonderful job she did! (psst... thanks to Brett for taking all of the photos and dealing with guys whistle at me as I undressed on the beach; hehe!)

Meadows of yellow

80 degrees, sunshine, a field of pretty yellow flowers... what else could a girl want, right? Today was lovely. Our town is finally starting to perk up because tourist season is basically here! I took a drive around Lake Michigan (a typical thing to do in our town) and there were so many people out. Eee, I'm so in love with this time of year. Gorgeous flowers... and last night there was a crazy thunderstorm happening. Love it.

I was so excited when we spotted this gorgeous field of yellow flowers on my favorite back country road. I've taken so many photos on this road. I think this is actually a pumpkin field! I've never seen so many flowers just stretch for so long! It was crazy. I absolutely loved running through the rows and taking photos!

I adore this floral print skirt from Francesca's Collections. I've worn it several times since I received it. It's just so easy to throw on and style! Plus, it goes amazing with my coral crush lipstick I've been loving lately. I wear it constantly.

I have an insanely busy week ahead of me! I'll be announcing something really fun on the blog tonight. Some of you already know though! I have something to do every night this week and then I have to get ready for the weekend! I'm so excited for Memorial Day weekend, to see Andrea, to have Veronika stay, to see Tall Ships play their last show, to be with friends... it's going to be a good one.
