The Grand River

Michigan pretty much just skipped over spring and went straight to summer this past week! It's been so refreshing. I came home from Texas to amazing warmth! I still have two more posts to do on the Texas Style Council Conference, but I thought I'd take a break to showcase a pretty spring dress. I felt so silly walking outside in this dress in March, but it's honestly been that warm. 75 degrees and higher! I'm in love.

This weekend, Brett and I went and saw Jim Gaffigan - he was so funny! We scooted a lot. We finished recarpeting and painting my new studio, which I'm currently sitting in. It's perfect. A little teeny, but I love it. I'll take pictures soon. Today, we got our taxes done, took a little walk downtown and grabbed ice-cream with our friends. I'm loving living back in the city. (Even if I did miss the beach a little bit these past few warm days!)

I absolutely love the Grand River that runs through Grand Rapids. It's so pretty at night when all of the bridges are lit up. I used to love scooting across the bridges when I lived here in college. I know it's silly, but I grew up being by water constantly. Brett and I both grew up in beach towns... so it's a little sad being in the city and not being able to drive five minutes to the lake. So it's nice having the river... that flows all the way to our beach town and out into Lake Michigan.

I wish that Oregon was aware of what spring was... We're still stuck in the middle of winter. Though, I'm lucky as well, because Portland is a river city.

Lovely outfit. The back detail is so charming :)

Such a pretty outfit! I definitely understand your affection towards the beach but luckily for me I can live in Cape Town CBD and still be super close to the sea so it all works out (:

Soo jealous..it's been off and on a rainy snow mush lately here. Which is even kind of strange for Washington. Love the dress!

I can't imagine living in the city! I feel as if it would be very noisy but I'm probably wrong. Anyway, I love the colour of this dress!

Those floral wedges are adorable. Such a great piece for spring, err should I say sprummer? I have been really jealous of the warm weather everyone in the Midwest has been having, but yesterday was 80 and sunny on the East Coast, so I am done complaining :)

You look gorgeous! I wore a sleeveless dress on Saturday and felt a little silly too. I know it's technically still winter but it was so amazingly warm out, I had to! Glad I'm not the only one. ;)

i have not been enjoying the recent floral trend, at least in terms of large swatches of fabric, but your wedges are a perfect accessory to touch on the trend without being overt and obvious. beautiful!

This weather really has been fantastic... I'm glad you are enjoying it as well! We saw Jim Gaffigan at DTE last summer and it was the best comedy show ever. He's so funny and doesn't have to be inappropriate or raunchy like many other comedians...

Everyone and their brother is talking about how unseasonably warm it has been and I am super jealous! I'm in Sunny Arizona and it's been SUPER COLD and cloudy here the last few days!! No fair!! :/

Ah, that's my river! I miss the Grand. It flows through my hometown, miles and miles to the school I loved attending, and then down to my second favorite lake in the world. Growing up and moving away can be hard. I still dream about my river, even if it is full of cars and mutated fish.

Also - Michigan. The only place on Earth where you can experience all four seasons in a fortnight.

Pure Michigan <3.

Ooh! I love this outfit! Your dress matches your shoes so well! <3 What a lovely pairing.

I'm not really a beachy girl, but I love visiting the Lake Michigan lake front during the off season when my friends and I have the whole place to ourselves. But despite that I still want to move out west - to Colorado or somewhere like that. I think the mountains would be a pretty fair exchange for Lake Michigan.

Oh gosh, this outfit is perfection! Your dress is adorable and you matched everything to it so perfectly.

This looks like such a pretty spot, too. Is it weird that I find it strange seeing a spring outfit of yours in a city setting? Haha! So funny to think of you not living in your little beach town, but your life in Grand Rapids sounds wonderful!
