Gosh, it really is summer! I love that I can wear a different dress everyday and not have to do anything else to look put together. I never realized how many dresses I have that work best without tights, cardigans or anything else. They just work on their own. Summer is a busy enough time as it is, let alone to rack your brain styling up outfits! I read an interview I did after last summer about how I felt guilty running a style blog and just posting pictures of me in a dress and that's it, but that's life! I've decided to not feel guilty about it this summer. Plus, we've had scorching temperatures already and it's only June.

I didn't have the best day today. I shattered my iPhone screen, felt super unmotivated and cried a bunch. So... in response to my bad day, I went shopping, ate fried foods and took pictures in a pretty dress in a pretty field. Such a girl. I did realize today though that I need to stop searching for greener grass and learn to love and appreciate what I do have. I have a bad case of idealism. I need to learn to accept that not everyday will be perfect. While being an idealist or perfectionist does motivate me to work harder, it also brings me down when things don't go exactly as I want or planned.

Life is definitely a learning process... and this summer is a huge season of change for me. I'm turning 26 in a month and I really want to focus on changing my mindset a bit. Learn to love what I have, appreciate the people in my life, the things I have, the memories I've made and be excited at the thought of the future... even if I don't know if it'll be exactly perfect. The good times wouldn't be as good if you didn't have to get through bad times too, right?

This is a great stand alone dress! The print is so dynamic that you really don't need anything else to set it off! The t-strap heels are cute too!!

I couldn't agree more. This is a really inspiring post, most of us have days where things don't go to plan. It makes us question why our idealistic life we dream of isn't going to plan. Things will fall into place and we learn from every step we take. That sounds real cheesy but it's true. One thing though, I am not optimistic about summer in the UK, I fear it will never come.
Love your dress! Perfect summer outfit and great pictures!

I absolutely love you for being so real. You inspire me SO much! I tend to be too much of a perfectionist and it brings me down sometimes. We just need to be happy with the little things and let go of things that don't go perfectly as planned. Thanks for this! And you look GORGEOUS as always! Such a pretty dress and photos.

I love this dress, and it looks adorable on you! Keep wearing dresses... don't feel guilty for it at all!
Annnd I needed to read this. Not every day will be a good one. Most are just bad-average. It's what makes the good days, good! Right?!
it's very pretty, I wish i had one t-strap shoes like that, nice :)
Love the light in these pictures, so pretty! I totally get what you're saying, I'm very much the same & I've been trying to work on it too :) Good luck!

Beautiful photos! I'm an idealist, too, even though I wouldn't like to admit it most of the time. Good for you, trying to appreciate the things you have :).
Oh no, I'm sorry about your bad day. :( things will get better! I totally understand the need for just wearing a dress when it's hot, and I assure you that none of us mind one little bit :) xx

Beautiful dress!
Tieka these photos and that dress are so stunning. I have the same guilty thoughts about just posting simple dresses but sometimes simple is really good, you look gorgeous here so no need to over think anything! Sorry to hear about your bad day, but bad days just make us appreciate the good days even more.
take care xxx
such a beautiful dress!

I'm right with you on the idealism thing. I always want the perfect outfit for the perfect event with the perfect weather and the perfectly behaved kids and, then, when one of those things get thrown from a loop, I don't know how to feel about the situation. Is it ruined because it rained when we wanted it to shine? Is it ruined because my four year old threw a fit? No, not really. But sometimes life has a way of making us feel that way. When we crack our phone screens (just did that sister, and I spent the day much like you did) or simply have an "off" day, it doesn't mean that the rest of the week has ruined.
On a side note, I think these photos are amazing. You don't look sad, unmotivated or anything of the sort in them.
I'm trying to pick just one thing a day to be grateful for, it's supposed to improve your happiness... It sounds new age or something, but I can always find at least one this before I check my email at work :)

On bad days, I always resort to fried food...always :)
Being able to wear dresses on their own is one of my favorite parts of summer. It's so effortless and comfortable. Sorry you had a bad day, but it looks like taking pictures in a field was just what you needed to cheer up!

Lately I've been thinking a lot about the idealism thing. I'm such a perfectionist too! I get so frustated when things don't go as I've planned, which is often, since I want everything to be perfect. But, these days I'm trying to focus on the many amazing things I have instead of been sad for some things I miss. It's not easy, but I'm doing my best most of the time. I'm sure you will have a great summer, & soon you will remember these days as a growing up & lifechanging experience.
Oh, about the dresses & summer, I think it's great that you post what you really wear, instead of styling something only for the blog. I choose reality over variety any time.
There's nothing wrong with just a dress! The dress speaks for itself, it's gorgeous. So sorry you had a bad day, but you sound like you did a good job picking yourself up :)
I really like dresses that can stand alone or be all dolled up for spring and fall. That print looks beautiful on you!
I'm working on the same thing, I have grass-is-always-greener syndrome lately, trying to focus on the present moment!

Gosh darn it I love the sun shinning through this picture. You look so happy and look so lovely.
love these photos! i had a pretty lame day too- i cheered myself up with banana pancakes and a hills marathon in bed. hope today is a better day for both of us! :)
I can totally relate to only wearing dresses in the summer, but it's so easy, functional and cute all at the same time!

You look so beautiful! Sometimes, a simple dress is just as stylish as an outfit with tons of accessories. Especially if you've got the talent to take beautiful photographs (and you do!) I'm sorry you had a bad day; hopefully tomorrow goes better!
i love your outlook on life about always being happy about those things that we do have. so sorry to hear about your phone screen though. i would cry all day too. i hope you ate all the fried food you want. and of course, your dress is just perfect!!!!

A little retail therapy goes a long way! I've been loving the dresses lately. The ones that can stand up on their own are my favorite!
I had a pretty bad week last week :/ For me it also helped to focus on what I have and love (personally: I get to come home to a great apartment in a city I love, even if finding a parking spot is a b*tch). And taking care of myself, I cooked one of my favourite meals over the weekend, took a long walk and went to the zoo.
Take care Tieka!
A tough few days for me too. Life always has it's ups and downs though, yes? You look so beautiful in these photos :)

I love how real you are. That's also exactly how I try and make a good day better, I hope it helped! Exercise is also a way that helps me vent my frustrations.
Your dress is so adorable, pretty gal :)
I had a rather unpleasant day today as well, but tomorrow is a new day! yay!
Way to stay positive and continue to have a great outlook on life!

I admire your positive attitude. Reading your blog brightens my day! I, being a teenager, look up to you. You truly are a positive role model, not only in my life, but in ALL your followers.

One of my favorite quotes (though I can't remember who said it) is "The grass is greener where you water it." That has helped me through some of the not-so-good days. <3
You look beautiful! Love that dress :)

Another wonderful dress and gorgeous photos!
I love being able to dress simply in the summer! I am so much more comfortable in a dress than in jeans or a layered outfit--perfect for summer playing. you look gorgeous, as usual! Glad to hear you're embracing life and doing what you love. good for you, girlfran! xo.
beautiful pictures. i love the the sunlight.
I'm so sorry you had a bad day, Tiek. I've been having a few of those myself lately! But it sounds like you're going through a really healthy attitude change right now and all the bad stuff you are experiencing is making you even smarter and stronger. :)
This outfit is so, so beautiful! That dress is pretty much a dream, oh my gosh. I've been a little bit in love with it since you posted it the first time around! Such beautiful colours and you look amazing in it.
What a pretty dress! Dreamy pictures too!
That sun is glorious! You're absolutely glowing in these photos... and I remember that beautiful dress well, it looked great all layered up, and it's absolutely a stand out all on it's own too!! I may have a wee dress crush! ;)
Aw, and sorry to hear about your rougher days. I've had a few good cries over the last few weeks too. Blah, they happen - but it sounds like you're coming to such a great place in your life and that's definitley what it's all about!! Big hugs! V
I am sorry you had not the best day, I some times have an issue being to idealistic too. Fried foods or carb overloading really does usually help though (until I am upset about THAT the next day, that is).
Anyway, I completely agree on the simplicity of a dress, it's really all have been wearing. I will wear shorts in this heat IF and ONLY IF they have a nice elastic waistband and light material!
Your dress is gorgeous but my favorite thing about this is the BEAUTIFUL light! Did you take these in the "magic hour" before sunset? You are just glowing!
Hope today is better!
xo Hannah
Such pretty pictures! Love the sunlight and I adore what you are wearing<3
I adore your dress and the light is perfect!
This outfit is absolutely adorable! I especially like the lighting in these pictures. They are like golden rays of sunshine shining down on you. Literally! So flattering
Love the dress. And as usual amazing photos!!
