Marshalls Fall Challenge

I'm teaming up with Marshalls for a fun, fall challenge! They recently contacted me and asked me to create an outfit under $100. They wanted us to tackle a top fall trend - color, prints or ladylike with an edge. I used to dress a lot more edgy, maybe even a little punk. Leather jackets, strap up wedges, torn tights/jeans and a lot more black, but I feel like I've gotten away from that lately. Well, it's a goal of mine to get it back. I love looking a bit more edgy with some feminine and vintage-inspired items thrown in. It was how I used to describe my style. So I took the ladylike with an edge challenge. I've been swooning over this outfit on Pinterest for months, so it was my mission to recreate it at Marshalls. Psh, so easy. I found similar pieces so quickly!

This outfit was actually created just over $50. The dress was $15, the coat was $35 and the belt was $3.  I couldn't find the exact boots I wanted there, so I wore my Dolce Vita boots from last season from T.J. Maxx and my vintage Coach purse. I stuck with silver accents in my jewelry and went with bed head waves. Psh, what am I saying? I go with the bed head look everyday. I'm always a bit messy. Hah!

The best part about this challenge is that I now get to offer you a chance to win $100 to Marshalls to have your own fall fashion spree! All you have to do is comment on this post and tell me what trends you're most excited for, or share your favorite designer score from Marshalls. I'll be choosing a winner in a week, so stay tuned!

Outfit details:
Leather jacket c/o Marshalls
Dress c/o Marshalls
Belt c/o Marshalls
Forever 21 necklace
Vintage Coach purse
Dolce Vita wedges vita T.J. Maxx

Well this is awkward.. I wanna re-create that outfit, too!! It's just so darn stylish. You pulled it off. I'm very impressed that you were under budget in your outfit. *virtual high for saving money*

My favorite fall trend is sweaters. Though they also pass as a winter trend.. oh well, it's still a thing I'm looking forward to! :)

I blogged about my most favorite dress recently! Got her from TJ Maxx :) I go at least twice a week on my lunch break. http://brilliantnature.blogspot.com/2012/09/yellow-polka-dot.html

What I'm loving most about Marshall's right now though is the influx of Minnetonkas and sheer collared tops!

I got a cognac Tignanello crossbody bag with real leather from Marshalls. It's not really a big name brand but I'm loving the real leather. I hope the bag lasts.

Ladylike with an edge for sure. My black leather jacket is my favorite autumnal accessory.

I want to add a little leather into my wardrobe this fall. Love the faux leather pants and pencil skirts you are seeing around. Paired with a light pastel blouse, a leather skirt is the perfect way to add a little edge to a feminine outfit!

This outfit is so completely adorable! I'm loving the edgy-ness to it.

For me this fall, it is all about finding a three-way balance, of affordable, appropriate for class, and then also appropriate for the office. The joys of being a college student - I have been drawn to slightly shorter than normal pencil skirts. Not too hoochy, not to librarian.

Marshalls is my happy place! I grew up going with my mother, and it became such a special ritual. I'm moving to California next year and my mom and I are already talking about how sad it's going to be to go to a Marshalls without the other person!

My favorite steal from there was this jacket:

http://www.polyvore.com/ashley_bernardo_distressed_faux_leather/thing?id=13457036

Perfect with jeans and pumps for date night or with boots and a scarf for some apple picking! I'm so happy it's fall and I got to take it out of my closet.

Cheers!

I'm really big into fall colors this year - I guess this counts as a trend? I'm branching out a bit in terms of colorful jeans, and I bought some new mustard tights to try out when the weather gets cool enough - I've only ever worn black tights before, so I feel really bold and excited at the idea of brighter tights.

Marilyn said...

I'm loving the look of autumn inspired colored skinnies & pants this Fall, with cognac boots or booties. Throw on a scarf and a sweater, add in some apple cider and a pumpkin patch, and you can't get any more autumnal than that!

I've always loved the combination of girly and grunge. In high school, I dressed in a more grungy manner, but in these past few years, I've really gotten away from that. I think that's what I'm most excited about as the season changes-- motorcycle jackets, ripped up tights, clunky boots, etc., all mixed with dainty dresses, floral prints, doll-like makeup. Anyhow, you look really lovely. :) Rock the bedhead for the rest of us.

I love Marshalls. I always forget about it though when I go shopping, so I'm trying to remember it more because I've scored such cute things there for really cheap. Just bought an awesome sleeveless button up the other day! Anyway...

I'm definitely looking forward to layering a lot. In the summer it's not really something you can do, and I don't usually do it that often either, so I'm going to try more so I can stay warm and look cute still!
