I love revisiting my favorite spots each season. I actually took some of my favorite autumn photos last here in this very location. Along the west coast of Michigan, there are just so many pretty fields. It's hard to not take photos in every one! But I swear autumn colors or spring blossoms, freshly fallen snow or rich greens, fields really do make for a pretty setting. I loved having Winny tag along. She went nuts in the field. Rolling around, picking up and carrying around branches, biting the shrubs, the usual.

I love how Winny is just a black blob of blur in these photos - haha! She honestly cracks me up. I can't believe she's going on 12 weeks soon! She just had her first vet visit recently and had pretty bad ear infections in both ears. I felt awful, but they filled them with medicating wax and she's doing a lot better. I just have to go back in four weeks to have a second dose and then she should be healed. I'm also considering a six-week puppy training course - would any of you recommend? I know now is the time I need to be thinking of all of this, but at the same time, she feels so young! She doesn't listen to half the stuff I say. Eric and I have to scream "Winn-ayyy!" in this crazy voice and she finally perks up and listens for two seconds. Haha!

Other than Winny news, not much else is new besides the usual work, blog, eat, sleep, wake up and do it all over again. We're still having constant rain which is putting a huge damper on so many of my autumn ideas. I guess our Indian Summer was shortened to just one day - tomorrow - but who knows if that will even happen. Let's just cross our fingers. I need to figure out a Halloween costume like... now, and pay a trip to the apple orchard for more cider and donuts. I can never get enough! I'm also writing down a lot of goals lately. My biggest ones are to lose the weight I've gained, get back into shape and be able to run a 5k again, stick to my set budget and finish this apartment finally. I have so many frames unhung still and I've been living here... 8 months now. Ah, that's sad!

UM wow favorite post of the season yet. I can't get enough of Winny. What a cutie. Also, I now want to try out mustard and brown. SO CUTE. I've always loved the way you style this jacket.
you and I are having completely opposite weather situations right now - summer in Alabama just won't end! I'm so jealous that you get to wear all of these cute fall clothes. and the leaves are just so pretty in the background! oh well...maybe in another month Alabama will cool off...

Winny is absolutely PRECIOUS - I love the chevron as well!
You look beautiful as well, these pictures make me very hopeful for Fall!
Winny is so gorgeous! Takes so long to get a new home finished. We've been our new house 10 months now and theres still 5 jobs we havent done lol.
I'm in love with your hats! i don't know if i could pull off the slouchy look.
I'm obsessed with your puppy! She reminds me of a smaller black version of my dog - he's a full grown white version of her. :)
Love your photos as always - the fall colors are stunning!

I love that coat! It's the perfect color and looks so soft. My friend got a poodle about a year ago, and she looks just like Winny! You can't take a picture of her to save your life :) As for puppy training, my friend Ashley over at adventuresofnewlyweds.com recently had her pup trained and she just moved back to Michigan, though I'm not sure how close to you. Maybe give her a shout?
One fall you should make a trip to New England. I feel like you'd go crazy over our weather/foliage!

I think puppy training is essential! especially when going in public / to the dog park, it can keep her from going crazy around other dogs, or by getting attacked... you don't want to get into a brawl with another dog owner!
we did a 4 week puppy training course through our vet starting when out pup was 11 wks, it definitely helped with basics (sit/down) but i think we need to continue on to the next set of classes, we're probably going to sign up for a 6 wk class at petsmart now. i'd say definitely do it!
You look so lovely! Winny looks like a princess!

You look gorgeous with those autumn colors.
I'd go ahead and start some small training now (or at least, don't teach any bad habits- like if you don't want her in the front seat as a big dog, don't let her on your lap there now), but realize that she has "puppy-brains" and may not learn it all or might forget. It comes back... :)
This dress is so cute, and I said it yesterday as well, but I love that mustard hat, so cosy looking! We did a puppy socialisation class with one of our dogs when he was little and it was great, they teach you the very basics but most of it was about letting your dog play with other puppies. So much cuteness in one room! xo
The tone of this post is super-soothing, Tieka! I love it so much.
And you look fresh as always.

I cannot recommend obedience classes enough! Winnie is in her prime socialization and learning stage right now - puppies soak in a ton of knowledge, even if they seem like "babies" to us. Socializing with lots of different people and dogs is key, and you can find classes that cater to puppies only so you don't have to worry about vaccine issues. Good luck!
I love the dress! the colors of your outfit are very nice <3

SO jealous of this amazing scenery! Your photos are beautiful! We may have some nice warm weather seasons in SoCal, but our fall (our lack there of) just doesn't hold a candle to yours.

Puppy class as well as continuing dog classes are IMPERATIVE to a healthy happy mental state for the dog. As well as peace of mind for you that you are in control and the pack leader to keep the little one out of trouble. As you are learning owning a dog isn't all fun times. I wish everyone understood that a pet is absolutely like raising a child in that you have to feed, exercise, educate it. Sorry for the long winded comment but my passion is animal welfare and I see the negative effects of well intentioned (and not so well intentioned) people on a daily basis at the (no-kill) shelter. Winny is a doll and I love your blog!
cute dress! fall is gorgeous, isn't it?
you are so adorable girl! i always adore each and every single one of your outfits. also, i love Winny so much omg, she is THE cutest little blob of black fur ever hahah! You are the last person on earth that needs to lose weight, but it's nice that you are conscious on getting your goals written out and accomplished :). I need to actually make a list and get to it!
So so cute! Love that jacket and beanie so much!! Beautiful

what an adorable puppy!
and i'm so jealous of your autumn colors - we don't get that here - unless you count fog...
Winny is so stinkin cute! You're giving me serious puppy fever.
I feel the same way about my to-do list! Life feels like such a rat race right now and I need to remember to slow down. And hang those shelves sitting in MY apartment!
xx, Katrina
I definitely recommend puppy class. My puppy is now 6 months old and in the middle of Puppy 2 class at Fido in Ferndale, MI, on the other side of the state. Those people are great--all positive reinforcement training and they are very smart, and I'm sure you can find something similar in G.Rap.
There is a black cockapoo that was in our Puppy 1 class and now in our Puppy 2 class that sounds just like Winny--super energetic and wiggly, and that dog has definitely come a long way in class. She's still a little stubborn and would rather play, but she also makes the class great by being the most social, happy dog there. Winny could help socialize some of the shyer dogs.
OH MY GOODNESS she is getting so big. If you aren't real familiar with dog training i would say YES! What a gorgeous location!
Winny is so cute!!! When my parents had dogs I remember them telling me that they trained the puppies themselves. I'm sure you will tackle everything on your to-do list.
Love your dress and little hat so cute and very fall appropriate.

Winny is too adorable! My puppy is almost two years old and we still have to call her in a crazy high pitched voice sometimes lol. Hopefully you don't have to do for long!
Winny is SO cute. Cutest blogger puppy ever, for sure.
I think you should definitely take her to a six week puppy training class! It's always good to train puppies early, because the older they get, the more ingrained bad habits become. :)
You look beautiful, as usual! I love the location of these pictures, so pretty!
Beautiful photos... LOVE the fall colors!! And my goodness is Winny cute!
aw I adore that dress paired with a short-sleeved coat and those yellow shoesies! and can Winny get any cuter?! I love the sort of sideways look she's giving in the first pic of her; my terrier mix Oreo does the same thing! ♥ Meghan, The Flight of Fancy
I just ADORE this post! Tieka, you’re an autumnal vision, seriously everything is just so pretty! Your autumn outfits have been inspiring me so much this fall! I love them all!!
And Winny... the sweetest little pup, I'm so happy for you - you must love having her... I'm sure she's still a lot of work (puppy stage) but it's so worth it. Aw, look at that face!!
Best of luck with your goals too, you will rock them! And yup, me too, trying to stick to my budget - except today I snuck in a few Forever21 purchases. Ooops! ;) xo V
Ahhh all of the pretty colours in these photos are killing me! Everything is still so GREEN here in FL. Love your outfit!
