Miniature Michigan

So if you aren't familiar with Michigan, Grand Rapids in particular, this post might bore you to death, but I thought it'd be super fun to feature on my blog since I do so many posts around the state! Frederik Meijer Gardens just had an installation of mini sculptures of iconic buildings and landmarks around the city, and some right outside too. It was so fun to see! I've taken posts at many of these locations too, which is fun, and it gave me some ideas for new posts. The room was filled with these unique sculptures, along with trains on tracks moving all around. I loved the exhibit. This membership is really coming in handy!

It featured places like Rosa Parks Circle, Meyer May House, Voigt House, Big Red Lighthouse, Calder Plaza, Civic Theater, Jersey Junction, Flannigans and even Fifth Third Ballpark. You can click through those links to see my posts at each location. It was a fun, relaxing afternoon. I went super casual with a new comfy sweater and my loose jeans. I've been refusing to buy new jeans until I get closer to my goal weight. It'll be a nice little reward once I get back down there.

Outfit details:
Forever 21 jeans

The color of your hat is lovely! I'm also a fan of small landscapes and miniatures so I love the photos that you took at the gardens. An arboretum near me in Philly apparently has a toy train setup as well and now I'm more excited to check it out after seeing your post!

These pictures are so lovely! I want to live in those mini buildings, especially that turquoise one.

Your outfit is so reminiscent of fall, I love it! Knit hats are one of my favorite things and I have yet to find a pumpkin-colored one like that. You have such a fun style.

I love that knit cap!

I didn't realize you were from Grand Rapids! I live outside of Defiance, OH. Not sure if you've heard of it, but its about 50 miles from Toledo. I've actually never been to Grand Rapids, MI, though. I kind of want to make a trip this summer. :)

You look kickass dude!! So my style here!! I love miniatures. I can go to the Children's Museum here in Indy and look at the miniature of a town here called Marion from the 1800s and the miniature homes (George Washington's house was crazy)!

Also I may need to buy a pair of Forever 21 jeans. You look amazing in those!

My husband is originally from Michigan and is always talking about taking me up there to see some of the sights. Those gardens will have to go on the list, it looks like fun!

There was a similar display at a museum in Nashville last winter. I bet it was the same artist, because the minatures look identical!

It is always so fun to see these sights around your state, hometown or not. And these mini-structures are rather enchanting, like a home for borrowers or something.

I also enjoy seeing you in a more casual outfit.

I LOVED that exhibit. I wish I had been able to take my husband there before it ended. I especially loved the smell of all of the natural wood and flowers they used for the exhibits. It was really lovely and you captured it very well!

So I stumbled upon your blog just today through Lucky and how crazy is it that one of your first entries I read is a visit to GR?! I attended Calvin College way back but now live in NorthCarolina. We were just there visiting and even ice skated at Rosa Parks circle the day after Christmas! So glad to have found a great fashion blog from Michigan!
