Day in NYC

Saturday in New York, Eric and I had a bit of free time to do some shopping, check out a few of the sites and meet up with some blogger friends for brunch! I was so excited to meet Mara and Matt of M Loves M, and Steffy of Steffy's Pros and Cons. We met at Prune, but after a crazy wait time, we walked over to Cooper Craft & Kitchen. It was great to catch up with them and eat some yummy breakfast. Afterwards, Eric and I headed to SoHo to do some shopping and stopped to an amazing cacao bar at MarieBelle. We had the best white cocoas and desserts. It was fun day despite jumping over huge puddles from Nemo!

I knew it was going to be freezing, so I packed my warmest tights from Hanes Hosiery, and a giant cardigan along with my most durable boots. I felt a little guilty not dressing up a bit more for the events, but attending fashion week in winter is so much more tricky than fall! When I'm home in Michigan, I'm constantly dressed more for comfort than for fashion, so it just made sense for me to do the same in NYC. I was glad I did too - especially with the storm. I remember Eric and I trying to hail a cab in the middle of it. It was freezing and we were covered in snow! So crazy.

I really love all the elements of this outfit, especially the dots on your dress paired with the geometric pattern of your cardigan. You look so lovely, Tieka!

Cute outfit! I love the geometric print with the polka dots. I always choose comfort/practicality over fashion-forward when traveling. It just makes life easier...it probably wouldn't have been fun hailing that cab in heels! :)

I'm from an area where we get it real cold and a decent amount of snow. Last year I bought plush-lined tights, I believe Hue sells them, and they're literally the best. Pair 'em with knee high socks and you're totally ready to take on a storm! Haha, I think winter-tips are very necessary to share! It's hard to dress in the cold sometimes.

I feel you on the comfort vs. fashion deal.

I honestly can't even imagine wearing that little clothes in the middle of winter. Hello parka and uggs. Not the most stylish, but warm! And I think your outfit looks great by the way. It's nice to see you keep your style and not be carried away by fashion week! :)

You are so pretty, Tieka! I love your outfit, too, even if it isn't dressy! It looks so cute and cozy, and I LOVE that you went practical instead of something crazy. Hehe.
I think I need that sweater.
