In hibernation

Hi guys! Long time, no see. I've been in full hibernation mode, so I apologize for the lack of updates. As much as I love January for the fresh start of a new year, I loathe January for it's lack of sunlight and bitter cold. The blog always falls wayside this time of year. So thankfully now that it's getting lighter out, I hope to pop up here more often! You haven't missed much. I've just been staying busy at work, playing a lot of Cooking Dash, watching bad TV shows (The Bachelor and The Biggest Loser, anyone?), and working on goals and resolutions for the new year. I'm really excited for a new month though.

Every year on the blog, I've always done a 'year in review' post which I decided to skip for 2015 and instead print a book just for us. I got the idea from my friend, Tifani, who has a few years of these, and I love looking through them when I visit her house. Most of my favorite photos are just random daily snapshots that I don't share on social media all the time, so it's really fun to have a book of 'everyday' photos – the daily, sometimes mundane, stuff that really makes up the best parts of your life.

My goal this year is to get more real on the blog. In the blogging world of 'perfection', it's hard to put yourself out there sometimes. Some really good reads on how I've been feeling lately are better expressed through What I Wore and Delightfully Tacky. I feel like I've been comparing myself a lot to other bloggers lately. I have to realize that most of the bloggers that I'm comparing myself to... they run their blogs full-time. That's the first thing I'm doing wrong. I have a full-time career that I love, that's not my blog! So what I'm 'trying' to do in my nights/weekends, they are doing full-time. That's not fair to compare at all.

I'm also over 'pose in front of this wall for an outfit shot' posts just so I have content here. I just want this blog to be more of a reflection of my life – mundane or adventurous – either goes. I want to blog about our typical day, our travels here in Michigan or out of state, and it'll always include outfits because I love blogging about my outfits, but in 'real life'. Grabbing brunch, or riding bikes, going to see a movie in the park, getting ice-cream, visiting the tulip fields in spring, those are my favorite posts! Plus, they are so much fun to do, and they don't bore me to death. So my goal is to keep my camera with me at all times, and just take more photos of life, friends, each other, travels, and blog more about that. No more brick walls for this chick here. Unless we're visiting a super cool mural in Detroit, which I have planned for this spring. ;)
