The first night in Mackinaw City, we did our typical routine there. I kind of love that we have a typical routine in that city, honestly. We headed out for dinner at our favorite restaurant, Dixie Saloon. There was quite a wait, so we walked around for a bit. Eric hunted some Pokemon, and we snapped a couple of quick outfit shots before they called our name. For dinner, I went for the northern Michigan/U.P. tradition – the Pastie. If you've never heard of a pastie before, it's basically a hand sized pie filled with ground beef, potatoes, onions, and rutabagas. Super tasty! If you're traveling in northern Michigan or the U.P. for the first time, it's a must!
After dinner, we headed over to Mackinaw Crossings, which is an outdoor mall-of-sorts, but with all local shops and restaurants. It's really fun to take a walk through, grab an ice-cream cone, and check everything out. Does anyone else love looking through gift shops? I'm starting to wonder if I am truly an old granny at heart, because gift shops thrill me. Ha! We grabbed cones from Kilwin's and stopped to watch the band playing at the mini amphitheater for a little bit before heading back to the hotel to watch movies in bed.
It was so hot all weekend long, so I was glad I brought some shorts along! I love pattern mixing, and this subtle floral pattern on the tank felt right with the polka dots. I'm also obsessed with my new boater hat. I kind of want to wear it with every outfit this summer! I also repurchased some black t-strap flats from ModCloth. I used to own a pair that I wore so much that they literally just fell apart, so I'm really glad to have a fresh pair in my closet!
