Black & blue

Popping in once more before the new year! I have another post from 2019 that’ll just have to go live in 2020. My perfectionist brain isn’t happy about that, but oh well. I ran outta time this year, haha. We snapped these photos in East Grand Rapids a couple of weeks ago after doing a big Christmas brunch with friends! We’ve had such mild weather this December; I cannot complain! Not having to deal with snow and being able to stand outside to take outfit photos without completely shivering is always welcomed in my world! But yeah, I’m getting ready to say goodbye to this year — I’ve been listening through my 2019 Spotify playlist nonstop, have my 2019 photo album already built out, and my goals are all in my to-do list for the new year. But for the next two days, I’m being a trash person to finish out my trash 2019 year. Lol!! It was a fun year though; but what an interesting one. 🤣 Ready to get everything back in alignment in 2020. 🎉

Michigan’s Little Bavaria

Hiii there! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We visited one of my favorite towns last weekend — Frankenmuth, Michigan! It’s such a quaint Christmas town; we go every year. It’s one of my top five favorite days of the year, haha. We chose the perfect day to go too. I mean, it’s always nice when it’s snowy for those festive vibes, but I cannot complain about the mid-50s and sunshine we had! It was so nice for walking around, driving to this side of the state and back. I loved this day — as always! We hit up our usual favorite spots, but threw a new wine bar in the mix! Keep reading for all the places we visited during our day in Michigan’s Little Bavaria!

The Christmas tree farm

Phew! I’m a little behind here… but hoping to catch up before the holidays! So a few weeks ago, we headed out to our annual Christmas Tree Farm day! This is one of my favorite days of the year. We always go on Black Friday, which is nice, because most other people are out crazily shopping! We head into Rockford, stop for breakfast at The Peppermill Grill, stroll a few of the shops in their cute downtown area, do a little wine/cider tasting at Kayla Rae Cellars, and then head out to Hart Christmas Tree Farm to chop down our tree! It’s always just so fun! Afterwards, we head back into Rockford to grab a late lunch/dinner at Corner Bar of chili cheese dogs — and head home to watch holiday movies and decorate! I love traditions so much! I’d relive this day over and over if I could… which I do, I guess! 😆🌲

Gray gloom

So I didn’t really realize how gloomy our weather has been until I saw an article about how we barely saw any sunshine in November here in west Michigan. 😂 The sun literally peaked out the other day while I was at work… and I was like ooh! And then it went right back to gray gloom and doom, haha. Oh well, I honestly do love gloomy weather, but I would definitely take a nice sunny day right about now just to switch it up! We snapped these photos on Thanksgiving at my mom’s house, where I lived in high school. Definitely felt very autumn through the holiday, which I love. As soon as December rolls around, I’m ready for snow! But we’ve had a mild month so far, and are waiting on our white Christmas. So we’ll see! Either way; I mean, a month without snow in Michigan… can’t really complain… 😬🤷‍♀️

Outside Coffee Co

One of my favorite places to visit in our neighborhood is… Outside Coffee Co! If you’re ever passing through Grand Rapids (or you live here!) and have never been, you definitely have to add it to your “must do” list. It’s open all-year long, no matter the weather. In the winter, they have these adorable igloos set up with warmers inside or you can sit outside by the fire! Plus, their menu is delightful. They have seasonal drinks and various toasts, along with lots of vegan-friendly options. Plus, they have soft serve ice cream, which is always vegan. I love stopping in for a coffee (their chaider or pumpkin spice has been a go-to this season) or their seasonal flavor of soft serve. Love this place!

End of autumn

Well just like that… autumn is done! I guess not “technically”, but I always just say goodbye in November. December to me is always holiday and winter vibes! Michigan gave us the best last week of November too — no snow, sunshine on a couple of days. On this exact day, it was mid-50s and perfect outside. We headed out to brunch and to Robinette’s to grab cider doughnuts, do a little wine tasting, and walk the trail! I don’t know why everyone doesn’t come to Robinette’s in November. There was no line, we were only one of two parties wine tasting, and it was just perfect! So my local tip to you — visit Robinette’s in November instead of October! Hahaha.
