The Old Goat
Last Saturday, Eric and I slept in, and went to a late brunch at The Old Goat. I first tried this place when my work had a company dinner here last fall, and it was so delicious! Eric and I have been back a couple of times since, both times for brunch. They have a really awesome lunch and dinner menu, and feature maybe 1-4 items for brunch on the weekends. The Old Goat is located in Alger Heights, which is a cute neighborhood. It's a huge space, and we've never had to wait for a table before. Considering how amazing the food is, this makes this place a hidden gem for us!
Eric tried their brunch special which was the Croque Madame, which is basically a melted ham and cheese sandwich with a fried egg on top. He had a side of cheesy grits and baked beans to go with it. I went for the soup and salad, which was so good! Their scotch chicken soup is to die for. We also shared an on-draft root beer. Yum! I'd definitely recommend this place if you're visiting Grand Rapids. And if you live here, why haven't you been yet?!
After brunch, we headed out to the mall to do a little bit of shopping. Soup mixes from World Market, and new workout clothes and cardigans... man, it sounds like I'm a little old grandma, right? I need summer to feel young again. Haha! After that, we met up with two of our good friends to see The Revenant, which was good! Rooting for Leo to finally get an Oscar this year!
And hello, February! I'm excited for this month. The days are getting lighter, and Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow, which means an early spring! ;) Except for my wisdom tooth removal next week, we have a fun month ahead. Eric has a lot of shows, so I'm hoping to hang out with girlfriends, be productive and continue to get more organized at home. We're planning to celebrate a low-key Valentine's Day, and we're traveling to Madison, Wisconsin to see my friend, Jen, and stay with her and her family for a weekend!
