High Rollaway

A couple of weekends ago, Eric and I headed up to Traverse City for a wonderful weekend full of all my favorite things... scenic sights, lighthouses, wine tasting, delicious food, and a comfy hotel room watching movies in bed. It was perfect. On Friday, I got out of work, and we headed straight up north. I recently heard about this place called the High Rollaway, and knew we had to check it out, so that was first on our list. It was so pretty. I would definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Officially named the Manistee River High Banks Rollaway, this scenic overlook is only a tiny portion of the 4,000-mile North Country National Trail System which winds through seven states. I had no idea! It's pretty easy to find... we just typed it into Google Maps and it navigated us right there. We got a little lost at the end, and almost tried to scale this giant puddle with our car, but realized we were supposed to turn right... and it took us right to a parking lot, and we could see the observation platform from there.

We walked up to the platform, which is 200 feet above the floor of the Manistee River Valley. From there, you can see the river as it flows in a horseshoe loop through trees and groves. It's SO pretty! I can't express enough. From having no idea this place existed a couple of weeks ago, this place really surprised us! If you guys want more information or directions on how to get there, check out the Traverse City Tourism blog

For a day of road-tripping and checking out the sights, I went with a pair of comfy jeans and a cozy sweater. I picked up this sweater from Free People, and I love it. It's super comfy! I love Free People... many of my coziest items are thanks to them. I'll be back with a couple more posts from Traverse City, but in the meantime, if you're looking to do a little shopping there, check out my guest post on their blog! We hit up a lot of local boutiques, and I shared a little bit on each of my favorite ones!
