Achieving stronger and healthier hair

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of L’Oréal® Paris Elvive. The opinions and text are all mine.

I don’t know about you guys… but winter has definitely taken a toll on my hair this year! I’ve noticed more split ends and I’ve been wearing my hair in more buns than ever because of static electricity. Plus, I’ve been too nervous to put any added stress on my hair with heat styling, so most days lately, I haven’t been styling my hair in fear of making matters worse. So I’m trying out the L’Oréal® Paris Elvive’s line to help my hair feel stronger and healthier, and provide my hair some support against heat damage. I saw results (especially with dryness) after 1 use… and I feel more confident now curling my hair knowing this product protects up to 450-degree heat!

To determine which products I should use, I took the L’Oréal Paris Elvive quiz on their website to figure out how damaged my hair was. I scored a Level 3, which means I needed some TLC! I color my hair, and use heat tools regularly – those two things can definitely result in dryness, split ends, and breakage. To get my hair back on track, L’Oréal recommended using a heat protectant before heat styling, and to use hair oil as a finishing polish. Once I received my results, I went to Target to purchase the products and put them to the test! Among the two items that were recommended to me (The Elvive Total Repair 5 Protein Recharge and the Elvive Extraordinary Oil), the Elvive line also offered a Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm and Color Vibrancy Repair and Protect Balm.

The Elvive Total Repair 5 Protein Recharge is a leave-in hair treatment meant for damaged hair. It fights against 5 signs of damage, and gives you 97% less breakage! Since your hair is made of protein, daily brushing and heat tools can cause dryness and damage. Their treatment nourishes by putting protein back into your hair to help increase strength. The second product recommended to me was the Extraordinary Oil Treatment. This is also a leave-in hair treatment and is infused with flower oils. I’ve been using this oil to tame frizz and help with static electricity. The finish of the oil is non-greasy and super lightweight! Both of these products are meant for women who regularly use hot tools – which is definitely me. I love my loose waves, but it doesn’t come without consequences! So I’m excited to try any product that will help protect my hair, especially this winter.

My hair is naturally curly, and my hair and skin tends to be on the dryer side, especially this time of year. Adding on years of coloring and heat styling… I definitely struggle with split ends. A few tips for helping with dry hair and split ends… avoid washing your hair everyday, get regular trims from your hair stylist, and avoid using heat tools everyday. Even if you put your hair up into a half bun, you can avoid styling your entire head of hair. You could also try a ponytail, or low bun. For working out, I’ve found a low bun helps with less tangles and less breakage as well.

Be sure to head to Target to check out the L’Oréal Paris Elvive collection! I found all of these products easily in the hair care aisle. You can also shop these products online, but I’d say any excuse for a Target run is a good one, right? You can find more offers in-store too at the Peel and Reveal Event on February 24th. Try to get there in the early afternoon for the best time to visit! Only the top 500 Target stores will be participating, so check here to find the store located nearest to you! And be sure to take the hair diagnostic test to find out how damaged your hair is, and what products will benefit you. Here’s to our hair surviving this winter!
