Greetings from Springfield Mural

Greetings from Springfield, Ohio! I’m moving into a few posts from our trip there a few weeks ago. I love Springfield. It’s definitely a small town, and to be honest, I probably wouldn’t have heard of it if they hadn’t invited me on a press trip last year… but after our second weekend in the city, I can confirm that we’ve had two really great weekends there. It almost feels like home in a little way now. 🤣 What’s fun too is… this weekend felt like a totally different trip than our weekend there last year! We went back to a few favorite places, but did a lot of new things, explored new areas, and stayed in a super fun treehouse! I’ll be blogging all about our trip, but to kick it off, let’s start with our first night there! A stop to the Greetings from Springfield mural, which is brand new!

This trip was sponsored by Springfield CVB, but all opinions are my own!

So that first day, we drove from Grand Rapids to Springfield, which is about a 5 hour drive. We first checked into our little treehouse at Simon Kenton Inn, and then headed downtown to visit their Champion City Guide + Supply (which is Springfield’s retail store and visitor center) and to eat dinner downtown. That little corner has seen quite the revamp since we were last there! Champion City Guide + Supply moved to this corner, where Winans Chocolates & Coffees is, and it’s so cute! It felt so lively when we arrived, lots of people out and about, and I was so excited to see the brand new postcard mural. Of course, we had to snap some pictures! I was also just on cloud nine this night too, because when we walked into the store, I saw all of Springfield’s visitor guides with my photo on the cover from our trip to the Hartman Rock Garden. The guides are such amazing quality too, and I don’t know, I was just very excited to see it in person. I definitely took one home!

So for dinner on our first night, we headed back to a favorite from our first weekend — Seasons Bistro and Grille! This was such an excellent dinner, we were both in a great mood, it was super lively in there, lots of good vibes this weekend for sure! For drinks — I had the sangria and Eric always goes for one of the local beers brewed in Springfield or Ohio! For an appetizer, we had one of their specials, which was roasted jalapeño poppers (so good). For dinner, I went for the coffee encrusted sirloin with a blue cheese cream sauce. Dang, that was delicious! Eric had the pork carnitas tacos, which were also delicious (definitely had some bites). We loved our meal! After dinner, we went back to Mother Stewart’s Brewing for a couple of drinks! I honestly love that place. We mostly hung out on their outdoor patio, which is so fun and lively, especially on a Friday night. (And they have moscato! 🙌🏻) But yeah, a great first night in Springfield! I’ll be back with the rest of our weekend, so stay tuned! xo
