Presque Isle Harbor Breakwater Light

The Marquette posts keep coming! I’m literally so in love with this town. I know you’ve probably heard me say that a million times between my blog and Instagram and Twitter and Facebook and anywhere else I can shout it from, but I love it here. I LOVE IT HERE. Anyway, let’s back up to week one! The second spot I went out to get photos was to the Presque Isle Harbor Breakwater Light! I was so excited when I found out you can pretty much walk out here along the breakwater on a very easy to navigate path, until you hit the breakwater rocks. Those are bit more tricky, and I attempted to scale a few, but it was interesting in these sandals. So I waited, but I’ll def be back out here at some point in sneaks scaling this breakwater to reach the lighthouse. In the meantime, I settled here for some photos! I loved the blues of this day; the sky and water were almost the same color. So so pretty.

So yeah, on this day, I worked a full day at my job… and as always, as soon as ~5pm hits, I’m out the DOOR exploring. I try to do the closer, easier things on weeknights… and the bigger day trips/adventures on the weekends. Presque Isle Park is a hop and a skip from where I’m currently staying, so this was a perfect weeknight adventure. You’re able to park right off Peter White Drive, and walk down the little path where there’s a gate-looking thing and you can walk right through out to this breakwater. It’s such a fun walk too. I posted a video of it on my stories, but it’s just beautiful. So this little lighthouse was built in 1941, but the breakwater itself was built between 1897 and 1902. This lighthouse has a flashing red light. Definitely worth a walk down if you’re visiting Marquette, especially since visiting Presque Isle Park is a must-do when you’re here. I’ll be blogging more about this park too, so stay tuned!

My first week here was legit like… summer weather. It was actually hot on some of the days! I packed SO WARM like gloves, beanies, chunky socks, cardigans, my parka, sweatshirts, you name it, hahaha, expecting to fully freeze my butt off up here. It’s definitely getting colder nowadays, but yeah, it was very pleasant my entire first week. I only packed a few summer-y things in my capsule wardrobe, so they were all brought out on this day. But after I scaled some breakwater rocks, snapped some photos, I ended up meeting a friend for a drink at Blackrocks Brewing. It was one of my favorite nights too because it was SO warm outside, but the leaves were all falling, and just sitting, having a drink, listening to the leaves rustle, it was just so magical. (I LOVE IT HERE!!!!) Okay, that was my final shout (for this blog post, at least). 😉
