Whetstone Brook Outlet

I’m back again so soon! I’m going to try and ramp up blog posts a little bit here… because I’m still working through content/photos from before the holidays! I like having a backlog of photos, that way I don’t feel too nervous to run out of content if/when I don’t feel like venturing outside, but at the same time, being a month out is too much. I’m still (after 11 years!) trying to find that balance with the blog, working full-time, maintaining a social life, and taking time for myself too. Thankfully getting outside and adventuring around is my time for myself, so I’m really glad I can very easily incorporate that into the blog. Anyway! I wore this outfit out and about in Marquette to do a little local shopping for the holidays. This was the first time I felt… stared at in my outfit, hahaha. Maybe it’s the floral tights under the jeans, maybe I’m dressed inappropriately for the weather, or maybe the Yoop isn’t ready for me. 😂 Too bad, I’m hereeeee!

So I hadn’t been to this exact spot before… I love that there are so many little areas to view parts of Marquette differently. This spot is part of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. It has great views of the lake and of the Lower Harbor Ore Dock. There are picnic tables, trash cans, free parking, public restrooms… so yeah, perfect little spot for photos, or to pack a lunch, or to stretch your legs! When I was out snapping photos, there were lots of dog-walkers and winter bikers passing by. I feel like this happens every time I come across an elderly person walking here… but they’re always like, “Be careful, it’s icy out here!” Hahaha. This community is too kind. Even if they do stare at me strangely. I’m sort of used to that anyway. 😂 I honestly feel like GR is WAY WORSE for staring at someone taking photos. Here, if you see someone walking around with a tripod, it’s just sort of expected. And I’ve honestly met a lot of really nice people that way, haha!

But yeah, winter so far is great UP here. It’s been very very mild, so I haven’t really experienced a true Yooper winter yet. So I’ve been taking advantage of the clear roads/sunshine/mild temps to get out for some day trips and adventuring. I’ll be blogging about those soon, but in the meantime, stay up-to-date on my Instagram. I post on my stories every night! Otherwise, work is steady, friends are great, life feels calm, feels like it’s slowing down a little bit after the holidays which is so welcomed. I can’t believe we’re almost halfway through January already. Usually I despise this month and winter, but not this year. It’s just an entirely different state of mind up here in the winter. Everything is just so pretty. All the time. It never gets old. Anyway, I’ll be back soon!
