Little Presque Isle
It was one of those full-but-still-cozy autumn weekends in Marquette! Fresh Coast Film Festival was happening, so I checked out a couple of film blocks and spent a little time soaking up all of that creative energy downtown. Otherwise, the weekend was pretty relaxed: spooky movies at home (including Obsession, we loved that one), homemade chili, brunch at Bodega, a 4-mile run as I continue training for my upcoming 10K and, of course, a couple of autumn coffees. (The chai cider latte from 231 is so good.) It honestly felt like the perfect mix of getting out and doing things while still leaving plenty of time to be cozy at home. I sometimes struggle with this time of year, wanting to make sure I do ALL THE THINGS™ but, it’s nice to just let a weekend… be the weekend. It also helps we live in the most beautiful town, especially in autumn. 🍂
We took advantage of the beautiful weather with a walk at Little Presque Isle with a couple of friends, where there was still quite a bit of color hanging on! Elliot spent some time skipping stones while I wandered around, took photos and enjoyed the view. Elliot taught me a few tips on stone skipping, I don’t think that’ll ever be my sport. 😆 But it was surprisingly warm, Lake Superior was blue and beautiful, and the remaining autumn color looked so pretty against the water. I wore another casual fall outfit for the occasion: my Levi’s Ribcage jeans, the Target clogs I’ve been wearing constantly and a new teddy fleece from H&M that I am basically living in right now. It’s so cozy and easy to throw on over everything, which is exactly what I want from my wardrobe this time of year.
I always reach this point in October and start feeling a little panicked about how quickly the season is disappearing, but this weekend was a good reminder that I don’t have to turn every autumn day into a huge adventure. Sometimes fall looks like a walk by the lake, a really good chai latte, skipping stones and chili simmering at home. Between our Ironwood trip, taking so many photos, movies at home, 10K training and all of the little seasonal moments in between, life has felt full lately—but in a really good way. I’m just trying to keep embracing this weather before autumn slips into winter! 🍂
