Plant shopping

It's officially spring! It's also officially still in the thirties here in Michigan. It's been so cold! It's deceiving too... because we've been getting so much sunshine. So you feel guilty staying inside doing your normal winter hibernating, but then you step outside to frigid winds! So I still busted out all of my spring things this weekend... but stayed mostly indoors. We went to a matinee, did a little plant shopping, grabbed brunch with friends, and caught up on a few things around the house. I couldn't wait though to wear my new penny loafers (obsessed!), my new summer jeans from Madewell, and my new pretty pink tote from Universal Thread!

Denim uniform

For about a week there, we had some pretty awesome mild temps and sunshine! Now we're back to cold and snow... hello, March. While I could though, I busted out my denim jacket and chucks! I'm definitely ready for spring clothes. I'm totally fine with layers! Don't get me wrong. I just really really want to put away my bulky winter boots and fur-lined parka jackets once and for all! See ya never. BYE. Just gotta hang tight. We're so close! You just never know with March in Michigan... and technically it is still winter. So I'm just going to try and enjoy the last two weeks of it. Try being the key word here!

Weekend wardrobe

Onto a new month! I’m so excited for March. We have the first day of spring, and daylight saving begins! It truly starts to feel like spring is on the way when that arrives. That means I can start to switch over my wardrobe from bulky sweaters and winter boots to cute flats and cozy cardigans! For this outfit though, even with snow still on the ground, I couldn’t wait to bust out a few new things… including this adorable cross body bag from Radley. Obviously I gravitated toward this purse for the gorgeous cognac color (it goes with everything in my closet) but I also love the smaller size for when I don’t need to carry as much to work. It’s perfect for my weekend wardrobe!

End of February

Onto the end of February... finally! I hate to wish time away, especially a slow season in life where you can use the weather as an excuse to stay in your pajamas and binge-watch Netflix all day, but I'm definitely ready for spring. The last couple of days it's been in the 50s, and it's honestly felt so amazing. You step outside and you're not just totally frigid to the bone. Last weekend, it was still pretty gray, but warm enough to finally shoot an outfit post without a winter jacket! I'm still gravitating toward turtlenecks and tights though, but that's what I love about transitional seasons. You can mix it up a little bit!

Winter blahs

Why am I standing in front of a dirty snow pile? Why has my hair lost its curls? Why is this outfit just "ok"? I'm going to blame all of it on the winter blahs. I know, I know... I do love winter. But when it gets to this part of the year... where it's just so gross, gray and dirty outside,  and it's dragged on for too long, that's when I'm ready to see a change. I know us Michiganders can't expect to see hints of spring until the end of March, but man I am ready! February, you were cool and all, and thanks for going by relatively quickly... but let's just speed this last week up, okay? I'm ready for March, and spring!

Winter pathway

Are you hanging in there? Surviving winter?! I'm definitely trying my best! February at least provides some relief here in Michigan with slightly longer days, prettier sunsets, and we've been blessed with a fresh blanket of white snow... which never hurts! February to me is... small hints of spring, ignoring that silly groundhog, filing our taxes, and celebrating Valentine's Day. Eric and I have grand plans tomorrow of homemade cauliflower crust heart-shaped pizzas with ice-cream sundaes. I already celebrated with my gals for Galentine's Day with fancy drinks and dinner out on Saturday, which was so much fun! What are you doing to celebrate?
