End of January

Can you believe we're approaching the last full week of January? I'm so excited! Like I said before, I really do love winter. But January is definitely the toughest month to get through. It's long, especially cold, too dark. February at least gives us a little bit of daylight after work and less days to push through. But as I'm currently sitting here sipping on a hazelnut coffee, putting away warm laundry, and have chili simmering on the stove... I can't help but appreciate these remaining winter days.

Valentine's Day Date Ideas

For Valentine’s Day, Eric and I usually keep it pretty simple with a fun date together. Either an evening out at one of our favorite restaurants, a trip or two around our local ice-skating rink, or a cozy night in eating pizza and watching movies. Although I’m surprised every year at work with flowers from Eric, we usually forgo gifts in exchange for experiences… and get each other a sweet card that says a special message instead. I picked up these American Greetings cards at our local Meijer when I was doing our grocery shopping last week… and I love the pretty designs and sweet messages. How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Keep reading for a few date night ideas!

Teddy coat

Hi friends! Popping in with a super quick post! I've honestly been living in jeans, duck boots and this teddy coat lately. I apologize for the lack of inspiration when it comes to outfits, it's just been freezing here! We finally hit some 30º temps this week and it honestly felt like a heat wave! It's so nice to be able to walk outside and not feel icicles form in your nose! Hahaha. Thankfully we're thawing out a little bit though, and the days just continue to get longer and longer!

Winter woods

We are in a winter wonderland here in Michigan! It just keeps on coming down! We took these photos before the new year, but we've gotten even more snow since then. To be honest, I'm loving the snow, I'm just really hating these freezing cold temperatures! Single digits? No, thanks. I've been trying to make the most of it though and using this time to hibernate a little bit, and get to work on other things, like organizing, cleaning, working out, and cooking meals. Winter can definitely stick around for a while! I have goals to reach!

A Review of 2017

Happy new year! Before we move onto 2018, I thought it'd be fun to put together a year in review of 2017. This was a really big year for me in terms of personal growth. I went into 2017 with anxiety, terrible headaches, vertigo, and was 10 pounds away from obesity. I really feel like I changed my entire life around this year. I let go of some pain and guilt from the past through therapy, I learned so much about myself, changed my relationship with food and exercise, and after a terrible existential crisis in July (felt like I basically hit rock bottom), I somehow just changed everything around in the last six months. I'm still not quite sure how I did it, but I'm so grateful. This year really really changed me. Let's look back, shall we?

Frankenmuth, Michigan

A couple of weekends ago, Eric and I headed off to Frankenmuth, Michigan. It is seriously in the top three of my favorite days of the entire year. We literally do the same exact thing every year, so maybe it's the routine and tradition I love? Maybe it's just how festive the town is? Maybe it's because of the delicious food and drinks we stuff ourselves with? I'm not totally sure, I just love every second of this entire day. It's always so much fun! If you've never gotten the chance to visit Frankenmuth (especially you Michiganders), you really need to plan a visit... and soon!
