Windmill Island

One of my favorite traditions every year is to head over to Holland to see the tulips during Tulip Time! And can you believe this is my 10th year blogging at the tulip fields? So crazy to see how long I’ve been running Selective Potential. I decided to check out Windmill Island this year instead of Veldheer Tulip Gardens just to mix it up a little bit from the past two years! I absolutely love the windmill in photos, but Veldheer has more tulips. But either way, you’re in for a real treat if you visit either place (or both) during this time of year. We always make it a tradition and go on a weeknight, because there’s less people and it makes for better photos! Afterwards, we usually head downtown to check out some of the wooden shoe street dancing and to grab a bite for dinner.

Night in Seaside

One of my favorite nights during vacation was when we headed to Seaside, Florida! So apparently 30A is this strip of the Florida Gulf Coast (very similar to M22, if you’re a Michigan reader!) and Seaside is another town along 30A (like Santa Rosa Beach, where we stayed). We drove over (about 15-20 minutes from our cottage), to grab dinner, drinks and to see some of the sights! The weather was beautiful, we ended up grabbing drinks during happy hour on an outdoor patio, and then headed into the little main area where there were so many cute shops, outdoor restaurants, and airstreams with donuts, hot-dogs, ramen, you name it. So fun! I could have spent a whole day there, and definitely would love to go back one day to explore more!

Buddy's Ice Cream

Two more posts from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida! The first full day we were there, we laid out by the pool and beach (and got maybe a little too much sun!) so the next day when everyone else was heading back to the pool, Eric and I decided to walk into town, do a little shopping, and grab some ice-cream! I loved that we were easily able to walk from our cottage to the little strip of cute shops, artsy shacks and of course… ice cream! Buddy’s Ice Cream was just down the street from us, which was awesome… and a little dangerous! We went on one of our first nights and it was crazy busy, but during the day it wasn’t too bad! We loaded up on strawberry cheesecake ice-cream. Yum!

How we use Xfinity for our hobbies and side hustles at home

Side hustles and hobbies are two major themes in our household! 😆 Eric and I have a ton of passions, and thankfully, we’ve been able to turn a few of them into side hustles. Therefore, we rely heavily on having the right internet and TV service to be able to do what we love. As for our side hustles – I run my blog here at Selective Potential. I’m always using our Xfinity Internet to edit photos, write content, post on social media, or respond to comments on my laptop or phone. Eric, on the other hand, plays in several local bands! When he’s working on that at home, he’s usually on his computer prepping for upcoming shows, planning setlists and responding to inquiries! As for our “hobbies” and ways we unwind, Eric loves to play his PlayStation online with his friends, while I love to catch up on Netflix (currently re-watching New Girl!) in bed with Xfinity X1. Since we are always using our internet while we’re at home, I’m glad we have our Xfinity subscription!

Xfinity sponsored this post. The opinions and text are my own.

Santa Rosa Beach

Oh my gosh, I’m so behind! We were in Florida a MONTH ago! When we got home, we just got so busy right away with remodeling our apartment and everything else just sort of got pushed aside! Plus with a few blog collabs I had lined up, these photos have been on pause! But I’m here to wrap up my Florida content from our trip to Santa Rosa Beach! (Two more posts after this one!) It’s full-blown spring here in Michigan, our apartment remodel is feeling super good (we’re not stepping over paint or cardboard anymore!) and I feel like I can start to focus on my “normal” — working, blogging, cooking meals at home, heading to FLEX, actually relaxing with Eric (haha) and watching Netflix in bed. 😆 But in the meantime, let’s back up a month ago to our trip to Santa Rosa Beach!

Why I call Michigan home

If you’ve been reading my blog long enough, you know what a HUGE fan of Michigan I am. I grew up here, my entire family is here, I went to college here, found my career here, and plan to live here for the rest of my life! This is home to me. I couldn’t imagine being away from the Great Lakes, all the lighthouses I love, our little big city of Grand Rapids I’ve called home for the past decade, or my beautiful historic neighborhood of Heritage Hill. One of my favorite things to do is to walk with Winny to look at the beautiful houses – and dream of someday buying a house here! That’s why I’m excited to partner with MSHDA to talk about homeownership and the resources and programs they provide to help you achieve homeownership.
