Little Presque Isle

It’s spring and I’m still playing catch up on a few winter posts from Marquette… but it just snowed there again, so these photos are a little fitting. I’m back down in Grand Rapids currently as I write this with full-on spring weather! But a month or so ago, I headed over to Little Presque to snap some photos for a collaboration… and to golden hour! This is now one of my favorite spots in town. To get to Little Presque, just head down 550/Big Bay Road… the same way you’d take to Sugarloaf or Wetmore Landing. Just 1.2 miles north of Wetmore’s entrance on the same side of the road, you’ll see signs for Little Presque. You can park in a small lot and take the short walk to the end of the path… and you’re met with an amazing view! You don’t really know how magical it’s going to be until you reach the very end of the path!

I’m excited to bring up some of my spring wardrobe… and sort of start to put away my giant parkas and boots for the season. It’s a little early yet (being March) but our winter has been miiiiiild this year and we’ve gotten so many spring-y days, that it’s hard to look back now. But we’ll see what April brings in the UP! I’m interested and slightly scared, hahaha. April downstate means rain and thunderstorms to bring May flowers, and I heard the UP calls spring “mud season”. So… something to look forward to. 😂 But in all honesty, it’s so beautiful up there, that it doesn’t feel that cold. It’s like the beauty of being in the UP turns off the “f***, I’m freezing” factor in your brain like you get walking around the windy streets of GR. Anyway, rambling on about the weather, per usual.

But yeah… jist of this blog post. Visit Little Presque Isle! I’ve been in fall + winter so far, and I’ll be back in spring + summer, of course. I love visiting different locations in different seasons… because it’s truly a unique experience every time! But yeah, winter is likely wrapping up soonish there. I’m excited to get out and adventure more this spring. And then summer, it’s kind of on. I have SO many things I want to do… boat rides, waterfalls, lighthouse overnights, etc. that I feel I wanted to sort of wait until warm weather for. Plus some towns in the UP are so seasonal/touristy that it makes sense to go in summer. Thankfully MQT isn’t… so come on UP literally any time of the year and it’s magical. Anyway, I’ll be back! Have a great start to your week!
