Iron Ore Heritage Trail

I need to quickly wrap up my winter content here… since the first day of spring is tomorrow! I recently paid a trip to the Iron Ore Heritage Trail to check out the kiln replica in Marquette and to snap a few outfit photos. If you’re driving into Marquette along U.S. 41, you’ll likely spot a stone structure that looks like an igloo. These kilns used to burn wood into charcoal that powered furnaces that converted iron ore and limestone into pig iron! See you learn something new every time you read Selective Potential! 😂 But this trail is very popular in Marquette — it’s a 47-mile, year round, multi-use trail with a pretty snazzy website if you’re interested in biking or snowmobiling on it!

I posted on Instagram… “why don’t I wear more scarves?” Now that winter is almost over, I realize this. Hahaha. I picked this one up though from a local gift shop in Ironwood, Michigan called Ben Franklin, lol. Very UP shop, but I ended up scoring some really cute cozy socks and this plaid scarf! I’m sort of excited to retire my winter gear though. We’re a month ahead of schedule apparently with weather in the UP, so spring is hitting sooner than I thought it would. And this winter was SO MILD. I was really warned of “Yooper winters” and I feel I didn’t really experience it much this year except for a few 0º days that almost took my fingies. There’s always next year! 😉

Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend ahead of you to celebrate spring! I have a few more winter posts to wrap up and then hopefully move into some spring content myself. All the snow/ice has melted here in Marquette, but I’m guessing we’ll get another winter snowstorm before it’s all said and done. That always happens in Grand Rapids too. Those pesky April snow showers. But I have lots of fun trips & plans coming up… a longer stint in Grand Rapids, a weekend in Traverse City with the girls, planning a weekend in Escanaba/Delta County, and then just spring/summer plans too! I’m excited to start adventuring a bit more!
