Lakeside Chautauqua

Kicking off my blog posts from our trip to Lakeside, Ohio! We had an amazing trip there a few weekends ago, and I can’t wait to chat all about it. I had never even heard of this town before, but I’m so glad we had the opportunity to go. It was a very unexpected, yet amazing weekend. So for a little bit of background — Lakeside Chautauqua is known as Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile. For 140 years, they’ve welcomed families to their community to take part in an experience dedicated to nurturing mind, body and spirit. They offer a ton of spiritual opportunities, educational lectures, cultural arts performances, entertainment and recreational activities during their 10-week summer program. To be honest, when I signed up for this trip with their marketing team, I had no idea what I was getting us into… but it ended up being one of the best experiences.

This trip was sponsored by Lakeside Chautauqua. All opinions are my own!

Kalamazoo River

Hi there! So one more post from our little trip to Saugatuck — the Kalamazoo River, which goes right through downtown Saugatuck. Eric’s band played at Wick’s Park, which is right across the street from this view and the chain ferry… so it’s such a fun location. We had a little bit of time downtown before his gig, so we did some wine tasting at Crane’s, and then ran across the street to snap a few pictures before enjoying pizza, drinks and dancing all night at Wick’s! It was a great night; I’d love to go back to Saugatuck again soon and explore a bit more. It’s such a quaint beach town! I’m always a bit nostalgic for towns like this though after living in Grand Haven for a few years. I always miss being near the beach!

Kalamazoo Replica Lighthouse

A few weekends ago, Eric had a gig in downtown Saugatuck… so I knew I wanted to go and see the Kalamazoo Replica Lighthouse! I’m surprised I’ve never seen this one before, because it’s so close to home, but I actually didn’t really know about it until just a couple years ago! So there’s a little bit of history here with this lighthouse… the first one was built in 1839, but was quickly moved/replaced due to erosion. So a new one was erected in 1859 on a sand dune, but unfortunately was destroyed in a tornado in 1956. So this is actually a replica of the 1859 lighthouse. While the original lighthouse was a buff color with white trimmings, this lighthouse is red and white! I always love a red and white lighthouse; they make for the prettiest photos! It was fun to be able to see this one. I always love the feeling of walking up to a new lighthouse for the first time. ❤️

Golden hour vibes

Hi there! Did you guys have a good weekend? I ended up staying in quite a bit — catching up on some movies/Netflix (and wine, of course) on Friday night. Saturday, Eric headed out of town to play a wedding with not-his-normal band, so I ended up going to his normal-band’s show at this beach bar in Grand Rapids. Hahaha. It ended up being super fun! Hung out with the girls, ate some pickle chips (my faveeeee), drank wine + margaritas, but it started raining, so we called it an early night! Today was brunchin’, grocery shopping, and I took Winny to the dog park. I didn’t really live up “summer” this weekend, but ah well. The next few weekends look fun + jam-packed with music and trips and friends and wine. All the things I love! 😉

Extending WiFi into our new porch with Xfinity

One of my favorite places to hang out in our apartment is our newly decorated and furnished outdoor back porch. We bought a sectional couch with some throw pillows, twinkle lights, a lantern, and a citronella candle… and it’s so cozy! However, it’s also really far away from our wireless router indoors. At first, our WiFi signal was weak, so we weren’t able to work out there or listen to our Sonos speaker. But thankfully, Xfinity came to the rescue with its xFi Pods! They enhance and extend your WiFi coverage throughout your home, eliminating all those dead spots. We bought a three-pack and added xFi Pods to both ends of the house. Now we’re easily able to work on the internet and listen to music from our front or back porch!

Xfinity sponsored this post. The opinions and text are my own.

Black + chambray

Hiii there! Happy Tuesday! Feels like a Monday to me since we just got home from a trip to Ohio. I cannot WAIT to share those photos and blog posts. It was such a fun and weird and unique experience in the best way. But yeah, summer has slightly been taking its toll on me. Definitely living it up to the end, but dang I’m getting tired, and my body is rebelling against me. Hahaha. Ah well, we only get so many months of nice weather, so I’m just trying to do everything I can while it’s here. I tend to hibernate in the winter, so I’ll rest and relax then. 🤣 Can you guys believe August is almost halfway over already?! This summer went so fast.
