Saugatuck, Michigan

It has been a beautiful summer so far in Michigan. I took a trip to Saugatuck a couple of weekends ago, especially to see the Chain Ferry, Oval Beach and Mount Baldhead. I highlighted it in my Michigan travel book last summer and have been wanting to see it ever since. Oval Beach was named one of the top 25 most beautiful shorelines in the world by Condé Nast Traveler, so of course I had to check it out! It's only about 45 minutes outside of the city too, which is perfect for a quick day trip.

I first stopped downtown to check out the Saugatuck Chain Ferry. It's a hand-pulled chain ferry that crosses the Kalamazoo River. Afterwards, I drove over to Oval Beach and climbed the 282 steps to Mount Baldhead. It was tiring, but definitely worth it for the view. From the top you can see all of Saugatuck, neighboring Douglas and a great view of Lake Michigan.

Saugatuck is also really famous for its artsy community. They have so many unique art galleries and boutiques to check out downtown. I also love making a stop to Kilwin's for ice cream. For dining, my Mom's favorite restaurant is located in town called Coral Gables. That's next on my to do list when I'm back, hopefully with my Mom! (Ahem, Mom, I know you're reading this…)

I love this sleeved dress from Chiche. It's just a light, airy floral dress perfect to throw on for a day of exploring. Plus, the button detail up the front is my favorite. I'm all about easy dressing in the summer. I know it doesn't make for an exciting fashion blog, but eh, whatever! It gets too hot and humid in Michigan to care sometimes about layering or accessories that make you even hotter and sweatier than you already are. ;)
