Valentine's Day Date Ideas

IMG_3126.jpg

For Valentine’s Day, Eric and I usually keep it pretty simple with a fun date together. Either an evening out at one of our favorite restaurants, a trip or two around our local ice-skating rink, or a cozy night in eating pizza and watching movies. Although I’m surprised every year at work with flowers from Eric, we usually forgo gifts in exchange for experiences… and get each other a sweet card that says a special message instead. I picked up these American Greetings cards at our local Meijer when I was doing our grocery shopping last week… and I love the pretty designs and sweet messages. How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Keep reading for a few date night ideas!

HAVE AN EXPERIENCE

My favorite way to celebrate any special occasion is to take a trip or have an experience together. Whether that’s something as simple as going out to see a movie or a bigger experience like taking a weekend trip somewhere, the memories always mean the most to me! A few ideas for fun experiences… try ice-skating, or plan a day to go sledding! Take a walk together. Head to your local arcade or ride go-karts!

COZY NIGHT IN

Another one of our favorite traditions is to just cozy up in our apartment for a night in. We order a pizza from our favorite pizza place, and rent a movie. Be sure to grab extra blankets and pillows to make the date extra cozy!

DATE NIGHT OUT

Make reservations to your favorite local restaurant or a new restaurant you’ve been wanting to try! Date nights out are always fun if you love to get dressed up, which I do! It’s a fun excuse to get a little fancy, especially if you don’t get the chance often!

GIVE A GIFT

Surprise your significant other with a sweet card or gift! When shopping for your Valentine’s Day cards this year, be sure to check out the fun and unique options offered by American Greetings at Meijer! As soon as we walked into Meijer, we immediately spotted the card section – just look for all the red and pink cards right up front! American Greetings also has all sorts of cards for other special people in your life – friends, siblings, parents, children, colleagues, etc.

GALENTINE’S DAY

I’m a huge fan of Galentine’s Day. If you’re single, or just to keep the Valentine’s Day celebrations going, plan a Galentine’s Day date with your girlfriends! Offer to host a party at your place with beverages, sweet treats, and chick flicks! Don’t forget to grab them each an American Greetings card at Meijer, and package it up with some chocolates for a nice surprise. Or head out for a night on the town… hit up your favorite restaurant, plan a movie night out, or a shopping date!
