Mackinac Bridge

This week I'll be posting on our Mackinaw City trip! I'm so excited to share some of these photos, and memories. Eric and I had a lot of fun up north, and I can't wait to go back next summer to visit Mackinac Island. If you're unaware of the Michigan area, Mackinaw City is a huge tourist spot unlike some of the other places we tend to visit. There are tons of fudge shops, gift shops, hotels, bikes, tourists like mad. There's also an island right off the mainland called Mackinac Island. There are no cars allowed on the island, and it's amazing - full of history and fun things to do. But anyway, this week is all about the city!

We drove from Grand Rapids to Mackinaw City, which is about a 3.5 hour drive north. You'll hit Mackinaw City on the very last exit before you cross Mackinac Bridge into the upper peninsula! When we got into town, we immediately crossed the bridge just to experience it and spend 10 minutes in the upper peninsula (my favorite place on earth). The bridge is insanely amazing. Seriously, just breathtaking.

We checked into our hotel, got ready for dinner, and went back to see the bridge during dusk! There is a park (and lighthouse!) right near the bridge, so we walked around for a bit exploring. I swear I couldn't stop staring at the bridge. I know it's silly, but I just love this state. When I get the chance to see these amazing sights, I hang onto the moment for as long as I can. It's my favorite thing ever to travel and explore in this state. It always feels like "home", but I'm experiencing something new. I like traveling to other cities... but nothing gives me that rush of adventure like Michigan does.

After sightseeing at the bridge, we headed to Dixie Saloon to eat dinner. It was delicious! Afterwards, we ended up just walking all around to the different gift shops. Mackinaw Crossings is really neat to explore and just walk around. They have a common area with a stage and Eric and I sat down to see what the hype was about. There were tons of kids playing, and dancing. So we grabbed drinks and found out there was a laser light show going on. Totally corny, but fun!

This week, I'll be posting on an amazing lighthouse boat tour we did, and two more lighthouses on the mainland. The week after that, I'll be getting into some autumn posts! Can you guys believe the leaves are changing here already? I have some fun and exciting collaborations to share too. September is shaping up to be a great month. It's looking less crazy busy than I have been, and I'm so thrilled about that. I'm excited to finally unpack the rest of the apartment, do a couple of day trips and gear up for October... which is going to be very busy. I'm also hosting a Michigan blogger event at the end of the month, so stay tuned!
