Mud Season

Ahhhh, spring. Or what we call in the Upper Peninsula… mud season. 🥾 Not going to lie, not my favorite season up here. It has been nice to see the snow melt, but now we’re left with some muddy trails and lingering dirty snow piles until everything really dries up. But I recently took a little drive out to Sugarloaf, was venturing up, and stopped early on to be like… this is good enough. I’ve been half-marathon training and very committed to my strength training, and after a sort of grueling week with an intense lower body workout, my booty was burnin’, and I was like, I don’t need to attempt these stairs today. 😆 But it was nice to get some photos taken, and to participate in a little creative outlet other than watching another movie or another episode of SATC (which I adore), but it’s good to get out of my apartment and into the world with my camera!

I’ve really not been spending much money on clothes lately, which I consider a good thing, but it is interesting doing personal style focused blog posts where my items are either years old, thrifted, or worn a million times on the blog. But maybe that’s inspiration too?! But I spotted this coat last winter, it’s vintage/thrifted by Eddie Bauer (gotta be 90s?!) but ended up going back for it on my next trip up there, and I’m so glad it was still there waiting for me. It’s my favorite right now. They have kind of a similar version online, but maybe on your next thrift trip, keep an eye open for oversized Eddie Bauer anorak jackets for spring. I’m heading downstate in a week or so, and I’m excited to… bust out some more spring-y items with some of the blooming flowers and temps down there!

Otherwise, what else? Just heavy into half-marathon training, which is… I don’t know, a game-changer. I really love it. It’s hard work, but super empowering. And just having a “plan” of sorts is always good for my mental health, something to work at/toward, but also brings me joy, also challenges me, and is just overall good for me. It’s kinda the same mentality with this goal this year I set out to watch every movie off the top 100 American Film Institute list. I’m over 1/4 of the way through, and that’s also been a little challenging, but it’s been super rewarding, just so many incredible films I wouldn’t have watched otherwise likely. Who knew I’d like wars and westerns?! 🤠 Anyway, that’s really all that’s new. Some upcoming summer plans, but half marathon training runs and AFI movies are life right now. Along with… caesar salads, hazelnut coffee, French 75 hard seltzer from Trestle, and SATC.
