Ice Skating at the Ore Dock
I always love an ice-skating moment at the Ore Dock when Lake Superior freezes over! My first time experiencing this was when I first moved to the Upper Peninsula, the winter of 2021, and it was one of my top core memories… just so freaking magical. I think it’s frozen over a couple times the last few years, but conditions have been pretty ideal this year for it to happen in a way to skate. Subzero temperatures and not a lot of snow the last couple of days, which is exactly what we need! I had a friend call and tell me to keep watch (since my apartment is so close), so as soon as I saw people out there, I was like, it’s on! Thankfully Elliot had an extra pair of hockey skates I fit into… literally saved the day, so we got out there and skated around for a bit, ran into photog friends, and it was so funnnnn. ⛸️🧊
First blog post in three months… oof! Hahaha, I’ve just been fully in holiday, cozy, hibernation mode. Took a few months off in November/December/January just to enjoy, not get out everyday to take photos, edit, I go hard in fall, which I love, but it’s been nice to lay low-key with blogging and any video creation the last couple of months. Plus, I was wrapping up a collaboration with Pure Michigan, which was so fun last year. Otherwise, not much is new! Still working on the AFI movie list, have 17 movies to go! I’ve been easing back into working out a few times a week, in prep for half marathon training again in April. But otherwise, cooking meals at home, about to finish a Dry January, and enjoying winter! But definitely excited for February and the winter fun that brings to the Upper Peninsula. Excited to do a little traveling/local events. Ok ok, I’m off! Hopefully be back sooner than later! ❄️
