A September night in downtown MQT

Elliot and I ended up having a little impromptu date night downtown because it was just too nice to stay home! You really have to embrace these warm autumn days when they’re here. It was overcast but so warm, with autumn vibes through the roof, and downtown Marquette was feeling so magical. We started with a drink on the patio at our favorite, Ore Dock Brewing Co., then snapped a few quick photos in the street before walking over to Iron Bay for dinner on their patio. Nom! Such a simple evening, but sometimes those spontaneous weeknight dates are the very best kind. 🍂

I especially love downtown this time of year, when everything feels a little quieter after the rush of summer. There are still a few visitors around, but they’re mostly the sweet leaf-peeping variety—not the summer crowds here to completely ravage the town. 🤣 I threw this outfit together quickly before we left, but I love how it turned out. My new rustic brown Blundstone boots have already proven to be one of the smartest additions to my wardrobe; I didn’t even realize when I bought them just how well they would pair with practically everything I own.

I styled them with my Levi’s Ribcage jeans (which are very much on repeat) along with a barn-style field jacket I found on Target’s clearance rack last spring and a cropped orange sweater I’ve owned for years from Revival. I love finding new ways to wear longtime favorites while mixing in one or two newer pieces. While we were sitting on the patio, Elliot and I did a little daydreaming of all of the places we still need to visit and photograph this fall: Mt. Marquette, Thomas Rock and at least one trip west. The season goes so quickly up here, but we’re determined to soak up as much of it as we can! 🍁
