Manning Memorial Lighthouse

We went up north to Empire, Michigan to see Manning Memorial Lighthouse! I've stayed in Empire before and had no idea this one was on the beach so close to town. You head west from the inn on the corner, and you hit a cute little park/beach. This lighthouse is a bit different than the ones we've visited. It's the second newest one in Michigan!

It's officially called Robert H. Manning Memorial Lighthouse. Mr. Manning was a longtime resident of Empire. He often enjoyed fishing, and would return from his boat trips late at night. He often said to family and friends that he wished there was a lighthouse here to aid navigation. After his death in 1989, friends and family raised the money to build this lighthouse as a memorial. It's one of three memorial lights in Michigan!

I wore my newest skirt from Corilynn - an anchor print one! I love the structure and quality of her skirts. I wore my striped one to the blueberry fields last summer. This time, I paired it over a basic navy dress, and decided to go for flats while exploring on this day. It was so windy up north, but Lake Michigan's waves were worth it. So beautiful! Plus, again, I just adore the color of the water up here. It's so picture perfect.

Phew, it's full blown autumn here. I really need to get out and start taking photos every single night from here until the end of October. Eric and I are heading to Saint Louis this upcoming weekend for their Saint Louis Fashion Week! I'll be at several of the events, so if you're in the area, be sure to come out! I'm really excited. I love Saint Louis!
