Bell sleeves

Happy April! Seriously, as soon as the sun peeked out today, I told Eric, "Let's go to dinner, let's take photos, let's get outside!" We had such a beautiful weekend, but I feel like we've been stuck with some gross, very gray, rainy days lately, and I'm feeling over it. I keep telling myself "April showers bring May flowers" but man, I'm ready more than ever for warm temperatures and sunshine! Spring is here though, April is here, and we're so close! I'm really looking forward to the next several months. Tulip festival, carnivals, long days, outdoor patios, it's sounds like heaven!

Blush/dusty pink is one of the colors I identified in my "color palette" but didn't own a lot of... so I've been picking up a few pieces here and there! I spotted this top on ROOLEE, and fell in love! Dusty pink, embroidered, and really pretty bell sleeves! I honestly wasn't sure if I'd ever wear bell sleeves, but I love the feminine detail it adds to this outfit! Plus, it has that nod to bohemian style. I honestly don't identify my style with "bohemian" style... more like a nod to it, or more "folk-style". Does that even make sense? It's like I have this picture in my head of the style I'm shooting for... it's like Loft's version of boho, not Free People's version. A little more subtle, and girl-next-door.

I've also started to think a lot more about a curated capsule wardrobe for work, so I'll try to blog more of those outfits soon too! It's definitely within the same colors, cuts, fabrics, etc... but kind of eliminates the 'boho' nod, and focuses more on girl-next-door basics. I just want to feel more put-together at work, but knowing I sit behind my computer all day, I also just want to feel comfortable. We have a pretty casual office, so jeans are okay a few times a week, but I want to incorporate a few cute pants and dresses more often. I sectioned off a small portion of my closet for work wear, and it's filled with stripes, polka dots, lots of gray/black/ivory, with a few earthy colors like dusty pink, navy blue, and olive green. I'm excited! My entire wardrobe is feeling more put-together... my everyday wear, my work wear, and my loungewear. Thanks to The Curated Closet and Un-Fancy!

I'll be back with a small goals for April post, but it's going to be a little more lighthearted this month. I'm working on taking off the pressure of "being perfect" and setting all of these goals and feeling super bummed when I don't hit them, even though I've been making major progress lately (and I should be proud). I'm just so hard on myself to be this certain "perfect" person. It's a good thing on one hand, because, I'm so proud of so many aspects of my life I've worked so hard for (my career, my blog, my marriage, friends, apartment) but I've also just been so down about other things, things I feel like I've failed, or areas I haven't made a ton of progress on (even though it's okay). So I'm going to work at removing some goals, maybe focusing on a few instead of a million, and working on happiness and acceptance a bit more, and giving myself a break. I'm sure a lot of you can relate, so I'll update a bit more later. Have a great Wednesday! Halfway through the week... woo!
