Loda Lake Wildflowers

This past weekend was one of my favorite weekends in a long time. Every single day was great. Friday night, we went and saw The Get Up Kids and Saves the Day. It was such a great show and I loved singing along to so many songs. It brought me right back to being sixteen! Saturday, we played a show with my band, Circle Maybe. The show had like... four people there and we played really terrible, but I honestly had so much fun just being around the guys and all of our friends. Afterwards, we had a bonfire and it was perfect. Sunday, we took a trip north to Loda Lake Wildflower Sanctuary... oh boy.

I read about this place in a Michigan Travel magazine. The Loda Lake Wildflower Sanctuary is part of the Manistee National Forest. The GPS couldn't find it and we had to hunt this place down! Once we turned down a crazy winding dirt road, we saw a sign for it. I love finding "hidden" places. Adventures are so much fun. I seriously encourage you guys to find unique places in your area!

The view was really pretty and Loda Lake was lovely, but there were hardly any flowers! We got so excited when we'd spot a single tiny white flower. Haha! It was so funny. We were laughing at the "wildflower trail", but nevertheless, it was still a fun trip. We spotted lots of turtles and chipmunks, saw a new lake and explored a new Michigan place, so overall the trip was well worth it!

I received this lovely lace skirt from Francesca's Collections. It was really sheer, so I had a challenging time styling it up! Since the only slip I have is black, I thought I'd try it out! I paired it with a sheer pastel pink top and paired that with a black tank underneath too. These shoes are insanely comfortable, the skirt lets me breathe, plus I like what I'm wearing. I hiked Pictured Rocks in a little sailor dress!

I'm really raring to go on another "Michigan adventure" soon. I'm itching for adventure and traveling an hour here or there isn't satisfying my need! I really want to head back up to Mackinaw Island and get some really great photo/outfit shots there. Plus, I'd die to go back up to Pictured Rocks again. I know in fall we're going to head up to 'Lake of the Clouds' which I've also been dying to see. Michigan is full of so many fun things to do. Not to mention, our town is finally coming alive with this weather. Scooting, eating Nautical Knots, life is too good this time of year.
