Spring Featured Blogger

For my spring featured blogger, I chose Katy of Kate&Stripes. I found her through Instagram a couple of months ago, and have been in love ever since! I think she's crazy beautiful, I love her adorable and fun sense of style and she just seems so sweet! She's a third grade teacher for children with Autism, a freelance model, and a blogger. Plus she has a mini backyard farm with chickens and a garden. How cute, right? Keep reading to learn more about this lady and be sure to check out her blog! You will be inspired, especially for the spring season!

1. Can you tell us a little bit about your blog, Kate & Stripes?

I like to describe it as a fashion, DIY, cooking, backyard farming, and positive lifestyle blog all wrapped up in one big sparkly bow. I am honestly not a very organized blogger. I just post on what I truly love. If I am wearing an outfit that I feel great in, or I am having a particularly awesome day, I'll post about it. If I make a cocktail, a DIY project, or a recipe that I end up loving, I'll post about it. It's all very organic, and I feel like that gives a blog a more authentic feel. I have been lucky enough to collaborate with some really great people, and am honored to be able to support some incredible ladies doing their thing, and vice versa.

2. When and why did you start blogging?

I guess I have been blogging for years, if you count Livejournal posts driven by teenage emotion, followed by Tumblr, and a few other random places. But, I started Kate&Stripes somewhere around November of 2013, on a whim. I have a crazy stressful job (see below) and although I really love it, I needed an outlet, so Kate&Stripes was born! I knew I had something to offer, but was definitely unsure about whether other people would see it as valuable. Fortunately, I have received a great reader response so far. The blogging world is so positive and supportive, and I feel like I have found a really cool little community.

3. Tell us about your style.

My style is definitely very vintage driven. I have always been drawn to vintage patterns and silhouettes, I love the playfulness of it all. I try not to take fashion too seriously. I can't name more than five designers, and have absolutely no interest in what's on the runway. While I know that to some, it can be a source of inspiration, or a wardrobe reality, those things have always seemed out of reach for me. I might start the day off with brunch in a vintage dress and heels, and finish it in overalls and boots working in the garden. I believe in wearing what makes you feel good, and what makes sense in your own life.

4. What do you do for a living?

I am a 3rd grade teacher at a self-contained charter school for children with Autism. I have been working in this field for over 5 years, and I can tell you that there has not been even one easy day, but I love it, and I continue to choose it when I drag myself out of bed at 5:30 am every morning. The children that I work with have a primary diagnosis of Autism, but most have multiple disabilities. The majority of the children placed in my school were unable to continue in the public school system. Sometimes it is because of violent behavioral issues, severe cognitive issues, medical needs, or the need for constant supervision to ensure safety that cannot be provided in a normal school setting. Either way, they end up with us, and it is never, ever a boring day in my classroom. These kids are heartbreaking, and inspiring, and hilarious. They have shown me that I could do things I never thought I was strong enough to do, and I am so thankful to be their teacher.

5. Favorite musicians/bands?

This is a hard one. I really do enjoy so many different types of music, and it depends on my mood. I listen to everything from the Ramones to Taylor Swift. I have a fairly large record collection with some new vinyl, but also a good deal of older 50's and 60's stuff. Anything Ryan Adams touches will always be golden to me. I have a pretty deep love for classic country as well.

6. What would your perfect day look like?

Wake up without an alarm clock blasting at me at 5:30 am, be able to enjoy coffee and breakfast on my deck. I live for slow mornings because my pre-work mornings are so hectic. Then probably do something outdoors, go for a bike ride, garden, head to the beach. Maybe some afternoon reading in a hammock where no one can find me, drink in hand. Finish off the day with dinner and friends at a delicious restaurant. I love to cook, but sometimes you just need someone else to do it for you. Oh, and cleaning, someone else can clean my house and do my laundry while I am off having fun.

7. I love that you have a little backyard farm and vegetable garden! What is your favorite thing to grow?

While I love growing vegetables because they are practical, and edible, I prefer flowers over anything else. I try to keep a colorful mix of flowers going year round in my yard, they just look so pretty. I do have a salad bed going right now, with 4 different types of salad greens. I recently added a chicken coop and three feisty hen ladies to the mix, I have had to learn how to keep my garden safe from hungry beaks.

8. What's your favorite cocktail recipe?

I love anything with Hendricks, St. Germain, or Campari. I've recently started liking more floral drinks, I shared a cocktail recipe with rose water on the blog not too long ago. I think it's really refreshing for spring. If we are being honest here, I've never really met a cocktail I didn't like.

9. Where are your favorite places to shop?

Vintage stores, thrift stores, and antique stores will always be my favorite. You can find pieces that are unique, and tell a story. I have had to learn how to sew enough to alter clothing to fit me, and it has come in really handy with vintage pieces. Other than that, I really love Modcloth, and Anthropologie. I have been finding some awesome stuff on etsy lately too. I am definitely guilty of mall shopping, I do frequent Forever 21 and H&M, sometimes it's a bust, sometimes you find something surprisingly great. I'm on a budget, so I always consider price vs. quality, and try to make smart decisions. I host a swap at my house twice as a year as well. I have ended up with some incredible finds from friends.

10. Any tips for bloggers just starting out?

I feel like I am fairly new to the game as well, so I can share with you what has worked for me so far. Be yourself. There are millions of bloggers out there, if you stay true to yourself, people will notice. Post quality content on something you are passionate about, and post often. Blogging is not difficult per se, but it is definitely time consuming, and requires energy that you sometimes won't feel like you have. Don't push yourself too hard and have fun. Network, network, network. Meet as many people as you can, take opportunities, and be nice!

Winter Featured Blogger

For my winter featured blogger, I chose Kaylee of Kaylee Daily! I got to know Kaylee after she did a guest post on my blog this past summer. I loved working with her on it and she was the sweetest girl ever! I really enjoy her blog. She's so down-to-earth and I love her fun and colorful sense of style. I always look forward to reading her posts about her cute outfits and adventures with her husband and pups! Here are some questions to get to know her better. Be sure to head over and check out her adorable blog!

1. Can you tell us a little bit about your blog, Kaylee Daily?

Kaylee Daily is my creative outlet and hopefully a place of inspiration for others. I have always possessed a deep appreciation for fashion and I believe that creating innovative outfits that portray a person's unique personality is an art form.  In addition to my daily ensembles, I also enjoy documenting my day-to-day life with Bobby, my better half. My blog is a place where I can put all of my joys on display, where I can celebrate life's little moments with loved ones and strangers alike. Kaylee Daily is one hundred percent me--love, laughter, and lots and lots of cute, new clothes.

2. When and why did you start blogging?

I started my blog in March of 2013. Kaylee Daily is practically a newborn in the blogosphere. I've always admired many fashion blogs, such as Selective Potential and Kendi Everyday, from a far but was a little nervous to start my own. With a little encouragement from family and friends and a closet full of clothes ready for their big debut, I finally took a leap of fashion faith and I've never looked back.

3. Explain your style in five words.

Whimsical, romantic, bold, brave, and chic.

4. What do you do for a living?

I am currently working part-time at Head Over Heels, a local shoe boutique in my hometown. Also, I recently started a second part-time job as an assistant to Haley Sheffield, an amazing photographer and dear friend. Both of my jobs make for a very fun work environment and I appreciate everything I am learning. At 25 years old, I am eager to soak up every experience available to me on my quest to find the job of my dreams, whatever it may be.

5. Favorite musicians/bands?

This could result in a very long list but, for your sake, I'll try and condense it. Grouplove is my most recent musical infatuation. Their music is so fun and energetic! With every song I fall more and more in love. A few of my other favorites include: Ellie Goulding, Mumford & Sons, One Republic, Katy Perry, and Lorde.

6. What is a typical weekend-day like for you and your husband, Bobby?

As much as I love going out with friends, my most favorite Saturdays are spent at home on the couch with Bobby. The truth is, nothing makes me melt quite like the words 'Let's stay home and cuddle' or 'New Girl is on. Grab the Nutella!' We are total homebodies and that is completely okay with me. Our three fur babies don't mind it either.

7. What's your favorite part about blogging?

That's easy! Creating fun, new outfits is by far the best part of blogging. I love finding a fresh way to style familiar clothes. Being able to display my creativity in that way is exactly why I do what I do.

8. Who is Beasley, Nina and Dolce? :)

Oh, the babies! These three little stinkers are practically princesses in our home. I hate to admit it but they have Bobby and I wrapped around their twelve tiny paws. Beasley is the smallest of the three but she also has the biggest personality. Don't tell the others but she is definitely my favorite. Dolce, however, is a daddy's girl. I know what you're thinking, 'What about Nina? Who loves her the most?' The answer is: everyone. Nina is the most lovable out of the three. She welcomes everyone into our home with lots of wet kisses and nonstop puppy cuddles.

9. Where is your favorite place to shop?

What an impossible question! There are so many incredible places to shop. I mean, if its out there, I find it. However, there are three places in particular that contribute to my wardrobe the most: Madewell, J. Crew, and Forever 21.

10. Any tips for bloggers just starting out?

Have fun! I have wasted a lot of time worrying about whether or not other people will like what I do. I am learning that my blog should be about what makes me happy. Not everyone will like what you have to say or in my case, what I want to wear, but the truth is that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Confidence should come from within and whatever you decide to blog about, do it because it brings joy to your life. After all, happiness breeds happiness.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Kaylee a little bit more. Be sure to head over to her blog and follow along! You can also follow her on Twitter and Instagram.

Autumn Featured Blogger

For my autumn featured blogger, I chose Emily of Yesterday's Sweetheart. I found Emily on Instagram, actually! I started following along and loved her photos, home decor and fashion. I followed her over to her blog and I've been hooked ever since! She has a wonderful eye for style in everything she does. I'm constantly inspired by her. Check out my interview with Emily below and be sure to head over to her blog to follow along! You'll love it (and her)!

1. Can you tell us a little bit about Yesterday's Sweetheart?

Yesterday's Sweetheart is the creative aspect of my life. It's a collection of outfits, DIYs, bits of my day and inspiration I find here and there. I'm by no means a full-time blogger, but I love posting a few times a week for fun.

2. When and why did you start blogging?

My blog started as a way to jot down bits of my life for me personally to look back on. Like many, I started with LiveJournal years ago and found a love for using the internet as a visual and creative outlet.  I love that it's turned into something that other people enjoy looking at too!

3. Explain your style.

My style is ever-changing. I feel like I can fall into so many style categories because if I see something I like, I'll wear it. Some days I'd say classic, other days chic, modern, vintage, casual- the list goes on!

4. What do you do for a living?

I recently graduated with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. Still living in Arizona, I work full-time as an office manager for my parent's business and part time for a vintage Etsy store, Exile Vintage. I've been in the planning process for my own business for a while now and hope to get going on it soon!

5. Favorite musicians/bands?

The Gaslight Anthem is forever my favorite! Others I'm currently loving: Polar Bear Club, Modern Life Is War, Broadway Calls, Anthony Raneri (Bayside vocalist's solo work), Alkaline Trio, Of Monsters and Men. You can also find me blasting the Glee soundtracks frequently... (I'm all over the place.)

6. What would your perfect day look like?

My perfect day would be roaming the streets of San Francisco! For something local, my perfect day would involve sleeping in (I rarely do), tackling my list of to-dos and DIYs, lunch, catching up and shopping with my girls and ending the day with a movie date with my guy.

7. I love your home decor. What's your favorite space in your home and/or piece?

Thank you so much! It's a work in progress but my favorite space at the moment is our living room. It has somewhat changed since, but some of my favorite pieces I made myself. The coffee table and desk are made with IKEA tabletops and hairpin legs from online/craigslist. I also love my wood slat piece for displaying Polaroids!

8. What makeup product can't you live without?

I recently became obsessed with Benefit's Stay Flawless 15 hour primer, it's like a glue-stick for makeup! I'm also a bit of a lip-stain junkie and love most of the Tarte LipSurgence colors.

9. A favorite DIY or recipe you've shared on your blog?

My favorite DIY would have to be this easy way to hang prints. Moving into my space I had so many ideas for large scale prints but couldn't think about spending the money to frame them. This was a cheap and easy solution and I actually like the look of it more than regular frames!

10. Any tips for bloggers just starting out?

Have fun with your blog and don't worry about what others think! If you stick to what you're passionate about, I think you'll find more people can relate/appreciate than you think. :)

I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit about Emily! Be sure to head over to her blog to follow along! You can also follow along with her on InstagramTwitter, and Pinterest! Summer Featured Blogger

For my summer featured blogger, I chose Bekuh of Secondhand Sundays. Lately, I find myself gravitating to more lifestyle/diary/personal blogs with a unique mix of their passions and interests. I absolutely love Bekuh's taste, and design aesthetic. I really enjoy keeping up on her life with her husband Ryan, and their pup Nellie. Read below for a fun interview with Bekuh and be sure to check out her blog! It's a seriously inspiring place and she's one of the sweetest gals out there.

1. Can you tell us a little bit about Secondhand Sundays?

Secondhand Sundays is an ever changing outlet of experience for me. It's part journal, part sketchbook, and part photo diary. It's a place where I can collect my passions and share them through snippets of our daily life, travel stories, inspirational imagery, and DIY projects. I believe the most interesting people in life are those who live a life of passion shared, and not just felt. I want to be one of those people.

2. When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging in January 2010 as a way to catalog things that inspired me online (like Pinterest before it existed). It evolved sometime in the summer of 2011 to include more personal images, daily life happenings, and the creative projects involved in planning a wedding. Now it's my place to explore new ways of creating and sharing the things that I'm most passionate about in life.

3. Tell us a little bit about your husband, Ryan!

Ryan is my best friend in the entire world. He's seriously the most compassionate, loving person I'll ever know. He's definitely a Mr. Fix-it and takes his role as a husband and father (to Nellie) super seriously. He's a musician, audio engineer, and moonlights as my super-hero. I like to think I got pretty lucky in the hubby department.

4. Talk about your style a little bit in fashion or art, etc.

I like to think that I'm a pretty eclectic person in all aspects of style. Layering high and low elements to create harmony; whether it be in an artistic composition, or an outfit. I haven't quite hammered out what my style is exactly, but I've started asking myself, "Would a divorced 1950s housewife, 'finding' herself in 1970s Greenwich Village wear this?" It seems to help when I'm trying to figure out what to wear in the morning.

5. What do you do for a living?

I am the Community Coordinator for the wedding brand BHLDN, sister brand to Anthropologie. Basically I'm in charge of all things social for the brand and I spend my days bouncing between social sites, meetings, and creating reports. I just started in March, and I love it!

6. Who's Nellie? ;)

Nellie is our sweet rescued pup! She does not like to sit down and wiggles uncontrollably when she meets someone new. It's no surprise that one of her favorite things to do is to go on adventures with Ryan and I, but when it's time to relax Nellie loves to cuddle too.

7. What's your favorite DIY project you've worked on?

I think the DIY I'm most proud of was my Lacy Clutch. It was a pretty easy project to complete, but with a huge impact. I loved how professional it looked when it was done, and it's still in my closet! It's a go to piece for a dressy date night.

8. What would your perfect day look like?

My perfect day would start and end in Ryan's arms. In between those sweet embraces however, we'd get lost in a labyrinth of ancient streets somewhere overseas, sip on coffee in an obscure cafe, listen to buskers on street corners, and dive for treasures in a dusty old flea market. Then at night we'd find our way to a local bar and drink as much good beer as our bellies would let us. Crawling into bed before the sun rises, fat and happy.

9. Favorite musicians/bands?

My favorite band of all time is The Band, Levon Helm will always have a special place in my heart. I listen to other stuff too though! Currently on repeat: Bob Dylan, the Black Keys, the Alabama Shakes, Joni Mitchell, John Prine & First Aid Kit.

10. Any tips for bloggers you've learned?

I think the most valuable piece of advice, and one of the most difficult to follow, is to be yourself on your blog. It's easy to get wrapped up in what other bloggers are doing, and want to be doing it too, but we all have something unique and different to offer. Let's celebrate that!

I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Bekuh a little bit more! Be sure to check out her blog, and you can also follow along with her on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!

Spring Featured Blogger

For my spring featured blogger, I chose Signe of Signeroo. Some of you might have guessed it when I totally copied one of her outfits recently. Ha! I fell in love with Signe this "past" winter (it's still 22 degrees here!), and I've been hooked ever since. Her style is so inspiring. It's simple, feminine, romantic and so well put-together. I'd really love for my style to evolve to something similar, so she's been a huge inspiration! She's the sweetest southern gal from Texas and I love catching up on her life with Chad and Gertie. Be sure to read more below to learn about Signe and check out her amazing blog!

1. When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging in October of 2012 (I know, I know. I'm a newbie!) It is something I had wanted to do for so long, but I suppose dragging my feet just seemed easier. And finally, with my husband’s sweet encouragement, I made the swan dive into the blogging world. And I can't say I'm sorry he nudged me (hard) in that direction. I was a fashion merchandising major in college, and after I graduated a few years ago and started a nine to five corporate job, I haven't had a way to quench my “creative outlet” juices. Signeroo has been such a fun way to do just that, while hopefully sharing a little inspiration at the same time.

2. Tell us a little bit about your blog!

Signeroo is a fashion and lifestyle blog. It's full of sarcastic remarks, funny stories, a lot of love for my new husband and our puppy, and of course...fashion. Since we are young newlyweds, we don't have the budget to support a fancy closet. But to be honest, I'm okay with that. I love the special pieces you get from time to time that are expensive and that you know you will treasure. But even more, I love the non expensive pieces that you can pair with lots of outfits, throw into a bag and not feel bad about, toss out after one season...you get the picture. I didn't really mean for my blog to be about "affordable fashion" per se, but more or less just tried to share who I am and what I wear. And I guess I just so happen to be a girl looking for a good deal. No. I honestly just love sharing my outfits with more than my husband and my poor office mate. They are sometimes the only two people who see me all day. And I can't walk around Walmart looking for a "Girrrrl, where'd you get that shirt?!" comment to make my day. So that is how my blog was born.

3. Where do you get inspiration for your (adorable) outfits?

I really like to find my inspiration everywhere. On the streets. In magazines. On Instagram and Pinterest. It just depends where my wandering eye lands and has that "aha" moment. To be honest, I like to stick to my "style", so I really just wear what I find interesting.  I know this is so dorky, but I tend to lie in bed and filter through my closet in my mind to come up with fun, new outfit options. Inspiration begets inspiration, I suppose.

4. Describe your style in five words.

Gosh, these are always the hardest questions. How can I really describe myself? My style has changed as I have aged. I went through a hippie stage in college and now find myself wearing lace, tulle & polka dots. I will say it changes with seasons, as well. More classic and comfy in the winter...turning more bohemian in the spring and summer. Or, okay, fine. I could just answer your question in 5 words:  Effortless, Romantic, Eclectic, Bohemian, Vintage

5. How did you and your husband, Chad, meet?

Oh, how I love this story. Do you have an hour? No? Well, I will shorten this sweet novel into a tiny paragraph. Chad was living in LA and I in Dallas. He was hired by the company I worked for to guide one of the camping trips (which I happened to be guiding as well) up in the smoky mountains of Tennessee. The first time I met him, he towered over me at 6'5'', and was wearing a basketball jersey and swimsuit bottoms. His toned arms were covered in freckles and his hair was definitely in the "red" family. Not exactly love at first sight. But boy, was he handsome.

We crushed on each other and flirted throughout the trip, but it was the love letters and treasures he sent me after that won me over. He flew from LA all the way to Texas a month later to take me out on a date (which turned into a week long road trip from Texas to Arkansas to meet each other’s parents). I flew to LA for romantic getaways. And the love letters kept coming. And finally? He moved to Texas. And he sealed the deal with a sparkly ring Christmas of 2012.

6. Tell us about Gertie!

Oh, Gertie girl. What a girl she is. Where do I begin? She is a Hungarian Vizsla, and is about 5 months old.  She was the runt of the litter, so we thought we would be getting the "docile" one...but lo and behold, she is one spunky ginger! They call Vizsla's a velcro dog, because they love to be next to their masters. And they do! She has to be near Chad and I every single second of the day. She loves to run and play. Chew anything. And everything. And get into as much trouble as humanly possible. And even though sometimes we don't like to admit it, (like when she chews a favorite pair of shoes) we love her to pieces.

7. What do you love most about your small town in Texas?

If you've ever been to a small town in Texas, you'll know what I’m talking about. There is nothing like it. From our little bungalow, we can walk down to the square and eat a steaming homemade breakfast. Window shop at the antique stores or trendy boutiques (Fun fact. Bloom, owned by Kendi from Kendi Everyday is on our square. And yes, she's just as pretty in person.) On Saturdays, we can walk over to the farmers market for fresh fruit, honey, bread and veggies. There is a local feed store owned by a few good ol boys in their ten-gallon hats that we like to visit in the spring when the baby chicks make their first appearance. And just a short drive away, are the backcountry roads of Texas. And there is nothing like a Texas sunset in the big open sky, on a Texas back road. Trust me on that, y'all. As my father in law would say, life in small town Texas is just honeysuckle sweet.

8. What would your perfect day look like?

The perfect day. I would say the perfect day would be a warm summer day in Texas. All of the flowers have bloomed, and a slight breeze is in the air. The morning would start with a nice long walk around the neighborhood with the husband and Gertie. Breakfast down on the square {on a perfect day that means a calorie free giant cinnamon roll with homemade cream cheese frosting. But if it comes with calories, I’ll eat it anyway}. After breakfast, I'd like to get lost in a book on a hammock in the backyard and slowly drift into a deep sleep. When I wake up, I want it to be to the smell of hamburgers cooking in the backyard and the laughter of my family. Followed up by a summer bbq, and ending with a banana popsicle on the front porch swing while the sun goes down. Can I get an Amen?

9. Favorite food?

My favorite food is honestly anything with sugar in it. I have such a sweet tooth! I can't lie! I have to answer truthfully here and say skittles. I wish I could say something cool like "ratatouille" or "sushi" or something. Nope. Skittles. Time to grow up?

10. Any tips for new bloggers starting out?

This is going to sound cliché, but just be you! Sometimes the blog world is overwhelming because you see all of these amazing blogs or creative ideas or whatever it may be that makes you feel a little smaller in the already giant world of blogging. But honestly, your voice is the only one that should matter to you. I think sometimes people lose themselves, and that's when their blogs become a little confusing. Just be true to who you are! I'm going to go nerdy here and quote one of my favorites from Alice In Wonderland. Daisy: “What kind of garden do you come from?” Alice: “Oh, I don’t come from any garden.” Daisy: “Do you suppose she’s a wildflower?”  I love this quote, and like to think of myself as a wildflower in a sea of generic flowers.  Isn’t it more fun to be a wildflower? Set apart from everyone else? Yeah, I thought so. Be consistent. And be you. Don't be a cookie cutter. That’s what makes you interesting!

I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Signe a little bit more. Be sure to head over to her blog and follow along! You can also keep up with her on Twitter and Facebook.

Autumn Featured Blogger

For my autumn featured blogger, I chose Blair of Love, Blair. Blair is a fellow Grand Rapids gal and I've loved the chance to get to know her in person over the past few months! Her, Kayley and I have made a great bond of friendship and I love having bloggers in the area to confide in and relate to. Blair's modern, edgy style always inspires me and I love seeing her in familiar locations around the city. One of my favorite things about Blair is how gorgeous she is, but yet how down to earth she is. It's such a breath of fresh air. Here are some questions for you to get to know her better!

1. When and why did you start your blog?

The "Love, Blair" journey began just over a year ago. I used to have an art blog with my friend Aline in Brazil. It was our way of staying connected and sharing our creative obsessions. But as I began to drift more into fashion/beauty and Aline into poetry/photography we decided to create our own personal corners of the interwebs - and that's how "Love, Blair" was birthed!

2. Tell us a little bit about your blog and what you focus on.

I'd equate "Love, Blair" to being my fashion and beauty sandbox. It's where I play and create on my own terms! But typically you'll find personal style photos, makeup musings or DIY hair tutorials. It's definitely a 'girls-only' kind of sandbox.

3. Can you quick brief us on your many jobs/talents? ;)

Oh geez. Where do I begin? You said "brief" so I'll try and stick with that! I freelance in social media marketing, mainly within the beauty industry. I'm a model with the Matthew Agency and an aspiring writer - you can find some of my work on Chictopia and BirchBox's blogs. Beyond that I've worked in PR, marketing and salon management. Doesn't really make sense for a girl who has her MA in Counseling, huh?

4. Describe your style in three words.

Modern. Eclectic. Minimalist.

5. What's your favorite thing to do in your freetime?

Confession. I'm a total nerd. I love reading books on business (I know, I know), watching foreign films and discussing world news with my husband. On the flip-side I'm always game for white wine and a night out with friends. Those occur often! ;)

6. Favorite thing about living in Grand Rapids?

Downtown living is the best. There's always something fun to do within walking distance from our apartment. Personally, I think Grand Rapids is a great spot for us artsy 20-somethings. Indie concerts, vegan eateries, bike lanes and coffee shops galore!

7. How long have you been married & can you tell us a little bit about Ross?

Ross is my man of mystery. He appears on the blog too infrequently! He's tall with dark features and incredible handsome (but I'm not biased at all). Definitely a laid-back intellectual with a dash of sarcasm. By day he's a freelance web developer and by night, the drummer for Glory Days, a local rock band. We actually just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary on September 2nd!

9. Favorite bands/musicians?

Currently obsessing over Grimes, Polica, Niki & The Dove, Porcelain Raft, Blood Orange and the latest album from The xx. However, if I'm working you'll find me listening to Trance Around the World. For some reason I'm most productive while listening to trance music - it's what got me through grad school!

10. Any tips for new bloggers starting out?

Be yourself. Write about what you know. Utilize social media. Choose quality or quantity. Take risks and use blogging to teach yourself new skills. But most importantly, have a blast while doing it!

I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Blair a little bit more. Be sure to head over to her blog and follow along! You can also keep up with her on Twitter and Facebook.
