Monet Garden
One of my favorite trees to visit when I’m in West Michigan in May! (This is at the Monet Garden little pocket park in downtown Muskegon.) I usually come down every time this year, because the Upper Peninsula is slow to bloom and see spring… but everything is in full bloom downstate! I came down for the week for several reasons… girlfriends turning 40, usual appointments, visiting family, etc., but I absolutely love coming to downtown Muskegon. Just… the history! The architecture! Things to do! This little park! It’s truly just such a cool downtown. Elliot came down the last half of my trip and we stopped here to snap some photos! But yeah, an annual must-see for me is this tree. It’s just so pretty! 🌸
I haven’t blogged… since winter! Kind of wild. I feel like this year has simultaneously gone slow (ahem January) but then… also so fast. How is it already mid-May!? I feel like at this rate summer is going to come and go in the blink of an eye… and honestly I just want slow and simple lately. I think as I approach 40 myself (eek, it’s coming soon!) I just… want an even slower pace of life. I already knew that after COVID (loved that era of my life honestly, not going to lie), and moving to the UP where everything is just a much slower pace of life, but man… I crave that. I felt so overwhelmed downstate with the traffic, the people, the distractions, I was like, holy moly. So it’s a good reminder before summer even begins to just… slow it all down and enjoy it.
But otherwise, things are good! It was nice to enjoy some flowers and spring in West Michigan, but very VERY happy to be back home in Marquette. I’m a little behind on half marathon training, so I’ll be eager to catch up a little there, get back to watching some AFI movies and finishing that list (finally), doing some spring cleaning, and gearing up for summer a bit… but slowly and intentionally. I’ve been working at a “bucket list” of sorts for summer… but nothing set in stone or planned, just ideas, to make sure I enjoy the season, simple things like “picnic at Presque” or “drive to Manistique” or whatever it is. Anyway, I’m rambling. If you made it this far (or still read this blog, lol!), thanks for being here! 😊
