Autumn in The Porkies

Drive out to The Porkies for gorgeous autumn color! Head downtown to check out some history at the Ontonagon Historical Society and grab tickets to see the Ontonagon Lighthouse, grab a drink at Stubb’s Museum Bar (the locals are a hoot!), drive out to Summit Peak and be sure to catch a golden hour at Lake of the Clouds!

After three autumns in a row at this spot, it’s now totally a tradition. I wouldn’t miss this spot in early October for the world. It’s just… magic. It’s truly magic. And it’s so close to Marquette, about a 15 minute drive, in Negaunee, and the fall colors will just take your breath away.

Railroad in Channing

I make the drive from Marquette to Iron Mountain often, because one of my best friends lives there. About halfway from Marquette to Iron Mountain is a little town called Channing. Blink and you’ll miss it, but it has this cute historic railroad station… and these train-cars filled with logs!
